If it is out of warranty, open it up and take a can of air to it. If it is in warranty, I would call them. You might be able to get away with shooting air through the fans. It could be dust that you are smelling. I don't know. There are so many problems with these stupid laptops, it could really be anything.

yeah just get the dust out of that thing, that stuff gets real hot, once u have good circulation it'll smell like it should

i took out every screw i could see and i could peel back the cover around the touchpad, but that's the best i could manage

You might take a look at the Service manual here: http://mobokive.dyndns.org/Archive/E...ual/index.html

There are two versions "V" and "W". I don't know what the difference is - except for the 2MB size.

I have downloaded and saved both - just in case someone needs them.

If I recall correctly, V & W are Intel production streams. While they are somewhat similar to our 470K's (AMD stream) it would still be nice to get a hold of the K service manual.

Mmmmmm.... I was responding to Ryanz00m when stated he has a 4750V (in his sig). All in all, I'd bet that the screws, etc. would be the same even though they might have that (God Forbid - Intel Chip Inside). Oh well.. Let's let Ryanz00m decide if it is worthwhile or not...

True. The layouts are close enough for that.
