Waiting for the Precious...

Hi all!

Long time listener, first time caller.

Just thought I would add my experience with the phase game to let people know what the current range of possiblities is. I ordered my sweet system on Monday 4/24. I went to Phase 3 on 4/25, Phase 5 4/26, and today I'm at Phase 8!! w00t!!

I was especially wondering what the process time would be because I took the x1600 option, which is apparently somewhat new; didn't know if that would slow things down, but I guess not.

Apparently they are really cranking some of these units out now. We'll see how it goes from here, but things are looking good. Now, I just hope the darn thing will work OK. Wish me luck.

I have confidence that you should be fairly happy with you're new system, from what I can see, your order shouldn't take very long...there was someone else *cough* electric sheep *chough*who got quite a geared-up Aurora m7700, I think it actually came ahead of schedule. this could most likely be the result of the recent aquisition between Alienware and Dell. but I am going to predict it will come shortly. enjoy the phase game however long it may take!

mmstone - system config looks great! They do seem to be shipping the m5500's quickly these days. Sorry you will be missing out on some of the fun of the phase game (kidding!).

There are several of us here with m5500s who are really happy with them - I am using mine every day and it is a champ.

Phase 10 yesterday, 4/28. Picked up by FedEx, already in Orlando. Estimated delivery date 5/3. Now I can give the Alienware web site a breather, start to overload the FedEx web site. I'll post more when it gets here. Now I just realized that its coming to my house, of course I will be at work; hopefully they'll let my wife sign for it...

Congrats and welcome to the forums. That looks like a nice system, you should have it in no time.

Shouldn't be a problem for your wife to sign for it - my daughter signed for mine.

It's here! Wife just called and said FedEx delivered two boxes to the house. Interestingly, she said the driver actually got the address wrong and tried to deliver it to a house on the street behind us , but *after* getting a signature, someone realized the mistake and the driver came to the right house . Reminds me of the opening scene in Monty Python's "Life of Brian" where the three wise men bring gifts and praise to the wrong baby, then realize their mistake and come take their stuff back . I would definitely be steamed if I had to argue with AW AND FedEx that I didn't get the computer.

Anyway, to complete the phase story, I ordered Monday night 4/24, it shipped 4/28, FedEx picked up 4/29, and delivered 5/3 (to metropolitan Houston). AW had initially predicted shipping date of 5/1, so they beat that.

Now to see if the bloody thing works. As it has the x1600 card which is a newer option, I will try to post my experiences with it to add to the database.

Thanks to everyone here for their comments. This board has been immensely helpful to me during the decision/ordering process.

Now, since this is a work machine, I will naturally be loading about 15+ RPGs/FPSs on it, starting with Oblivion.
