I8600 arrived :)

Hi Guys,

I am really amazed with I8600. Sofar I had bought a few noname laptops for friends but this one is really different.

Especcially the screen (WUXGA) is just amazing. What a quality!!!! I never expected that this would be so much different than normal TFT.

I have no light pixels but I could have 2 dead pixels. But as soon as I wanted to show them to my roommate I could not locate them anymore. (White background)

I am very pleased with the build.

I have one question:
How can I check if I have the Samsung or Toshiba display?

The easiest way is to go to Dell's site and enter your 8600's service tag after you sign in. Look under the Original Configuration link and all of your 8600's parts will be listed, including the type of LCD.

I hesitate to offer the following suggestion, 'cuz I'd hate to be the one who helped you find those possible dead pixels, so feel free to stop reading right now...

Whenever I look for dead/stuck pixels, I switch to an all-black background. Anything unusual shows up right away.

Congrats on your new toy!!

Thanks..

Do me a favor... Check out the touchpad and point stick buttons. Are they hard to use? Also, the keyboard, is it even on both sides? Sink at all? Dell claims to have a newer keyboard in there now.

Also, I've read that the display can be back lit on the bottom or something when you don't want it to be. This might be an issue with the SXGA version.

And finally, do the fans kick in too loud? Try out a demanding game.

If all this is good to go this would be great news as I'm looking to get one as well.

Hihi thanks man. I switched to Black and checked every inch. There are no dead pixels. The issue from this noon was dust what made me think it was a dead pixel.

NIce nice, I hope my Mouse and 1 GB Ram will arrive tomorrow.

Switch to black background color and then to white.

If you dont see any dead pixels, so be happy, you have a perfect screen.

The stick is perfect, but the left button from the stick is crap. It is not so sensitive and requrie me push it too hard. I use external logitech Keyboard and 500MX Mouse, so it does not bothe rme at all.

But I will use my homeservice and let them fix it. But I won't send it back, I am afraid that they change my screen.

So far I dont see any back light on the bottom. Its perfect.

I cant game today since I have just 256 MB RAM and no Mouse. I hope I have my package tomorrow and can test Counter STrike and Generals Zero Hour.

I will make a report.

so they will work w/ my 600M correct? yeah heath needs like a good bit of orders in order for the cost to be cheap and worth it for him to do

Okay, I can't organise it myself, but might I suggest a Group Buy? If enough people on the forum want them, perhaps you can order them all at once, ship to one person, then distribute from there.

Just a suggestion.

I would gladly do this .... If it was possible to order it!

Doesn't it say on his site you can contact him regarding payment? Or is he only shipping in the US?
