Rebate Time-Frame Ridiculous

Am I the only one who thinks the 20-24 week time frame to receive your rebate is outlandish? I mean can anyone tell me why after it already being approved it can't be sent out? I've been waiting around three months now and even contacted the Better Business Bureau and still they aren't budging. This is really my only complaint about the company but it's a big one, I got $300 coming back to me , I don't see why they can't just send it out.

I would have to agree with you, but then again their repair time for me has been ridiculous too.

Luckily I haven't had experience with them repairing anything for me but if they can't even send out a check in a timely manner I can imagine how long it would take to fix an actual problem in a laptop.

I agree it is a tad long. I sent mine in second week of January and it is still in the Pending status. Says iniitally approved awaiting accounting. Goin on 4 months now. But I knew they were slow when I bought it and did not base my financial situation on getting it back anytime soon if ever.

Hello <thumps ur head> Hello anyone home???

What the hell do u think a rebate is?
Rebates serve the company a dual purpose: first, by the time you recieve your rebate, inflation has occured and the value you recieve back is actually less, second the whole time they are sitting on that cash collecting interest in the bank.

Dont get me wrong I hate rebates more than anyone, but if u dont like them buy something else. (Consequently a number of major retail chains have decided to end rebates..Bestbuy is one I think)

Its not that there is some paper shuffling snafu, they are just making more money off you the longer they wait b4 they cut the check.

Rebates are a money maker for any company in disguise. One thing, they get people to buy that are undecided and could be swayed, thus increasing sales. Also, any given company that issues them counts on a given number (actually predicted when they decide on the amount) customers not sending in the forms, or worse yet not following semi complex directions, this is what they call spoilage. Believe me this "spoilage" is a big money maker for them. So they make money by the additional sales, spoilage, and sitting on the money for extended periods.... I don't even consider a rebate when making a purchase, since it's a hook, and just another shell game.

Where do you go to check on the status of your rebate online? I've dealt with plenty of companies that offered rebates and not one had a time frame like 20-24 weeks. The most I think I waited for a rebate was for a router and that was around two months. I mean 6 months? When you're buying the laptop or whatever the purchase may be they don't inform you of the amount of time the rebate takes, it's only when you get the product you see in the terms and conditions how long. That's just plain wrong.

The last phone rebate I got was for the Razor and it came promptly in a month. Then again thats motorola so I don't know what Nokia's deal is either. How do these companies think they can hold onto your money for that long? I mean I even submitted a complaint to the BBB and still they refused to budge. They should post the time frame it takes to receive a rebate when they offer one, people don't expect to get it 6 months from the time they receive the product, that's just outlandish.

This is fact:

"US Courts recognize the slogan "Buyer Beware" as a legally binding principle. No amount of complianing will persuade anyone who might actually care, that you didnt do your homework before making the purchase. Consider it a life lesson.

You shouldn't have to do your homework when it comes to a rebate, they're the ones offering it therefore they should supply you with all the information you need to know, especially something like the ridiculous time frame.
