I'd noticed that this thread disappeared and it's REALLY helpful and well written. So I decided to stick it. May my fellow mods forgive me.

Hey guys I've got 2 partitions and i'm wondering if i can get the DSR to work? I tried to figure it out myself but it didn't work, now I'm in the process of formatting AGAIN just to get my system running somewhat smoothly. If there's any kind of pointers or suggestions you guys have, please do tell. I tried to make a 'DELLUTILITY" (47mb) first, then my OS partition(12gb), then my data partition(20gb), then the "DELLRESTORE" (5gb). ran DSRfix only 1 stinking 'good' the rest were all alerts.

I just now completed my 4 partition process... had a few kinks to work out in regards to Primary vs. Logical partitions and the DELLMBR.

I am tweaking my guide for the 4 partition process a bit and it will posted within the next few days... ...

in the interim... I suggest you get ahold of all the tools you will need..

WinXP SP2 CD
Ghost 2003
Partition Magic
dsrFix
a few black CD's or DVD's

All drivers for your 'puter

when the guide is done, I will post it here...

Hey PcGeek04 great work.
I have a question regarding the peer to peer ghosting and then burning it to a bootable DVD. ----> Everytime I try to make the DVD bootable I get the error message "This disk was NOT created by Ghost" do you have a work around for this? I have ghost 2003 btw
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

Thanks PCGeek, I got the 4 partition config to work, with a few changes of course. Overall it went relatively quick. There was a few problems, but it didn't take to much time to figure out what was going wrong. If anyone doesn't have the 'DellUtility' image, i'd be more than happy to share it with you, even the 'DellRestore' partition if it's really nescessary. Goodluck to all who try this!

Ghost requires a free PRIMARY PARTITION, you are allowed 4 total, so if you are using a DATA (STORAGE) drive separate from your WINDOWS partition, then this is the issue... you will have to backup all the data off of your DATA drive... delete that partition, then boot into windows and do your GHOST...

it sucks... but once the image is created, you will be alot happier...

I am re-imaging my wifes PC roght now.. and I had to blow away the DATA partition as well due to the Primary Partition requirement of GHOST...

Also... If you dont have Partition Magic... Make sure you check out GPARTED from sourceforge.net its a linux LIVE CD which will do non-destructive partition editing/resizing/moving without having to INSTALL software onto your system...

Just used it.. worked great!!!
