600M vs 8600

Hello

Im looking at getting either the 600m, or 8600.
The 8600 will cost $au 300 more, to get the same speced machine (apart from the wsxga screen [vs sxga 14.1], and 128m ati card [vs 64m 9000]) so it seems worthwhile.

I'll be taking this laptop almost everywhere, so my concern is weight/size/portability. Is the 600m that much lighter to lug around? Do you feel the 8600 is simply too big at times?

For the aussie users of the 8600, what screen did you get in relation to the samsung/hitachi issue?

The 600m is definetly your machine despite th elack of ability ot upgrade the video card the 600m is still a top notch traveling machine

yeah that's my reasoning for getting the 600M vs the 8600 weight and battery life

, I travel seldomly, but I am constantly on the go...on top of my text books, note books etc., it's small enough to carry w/ me, use on my small desks at school and the battery life lasts me all day...of course this is only for word processing and web searching...on a single battery i get about 3 1/2- 4 hours of battery life...plus it's only a lil over 5 lbs. which is excellent since I carry much more added weight w/ my books

-I'm a gamer, but i have my desktop for that, plus i need something more mobile, the M9 Radeon is more than efficient for some games and DVD play, but note that the SXGA+ screen resolution is very small, i have good eyes, but the font is rather small...so u may want to consider getting the XGA...

yeah, school's been rough, and been enjoying my lappy, it's been a great rexource for my classes =P...how does it go? IC "our" forum has grown a lot and more and more people seem to be getting the 8600...

I just saw the scores for M10 vs M11 vs NV36m vs NV31M and needless to say it was just as i expected go Geforce 5700!

if u need any pics let me know, i cant post them on here, since AHEM!!! "DM" hasn't gotten a server to host for us...j/k =P...but i can send pics to your e-mail...been playing a lot of WC3 lately =P

Really? Frozen Throne? Im Machina2o2 im terrible though but i enjoy a good game now and then. The server is sort of up if youhave pics email them to me and i will put them up

Ah ive seen a fair few pics round on the net,
though i don't know, you can't get a good idea unles they were say side by side.

Theres no dell retail shops in australia anymore that i can walk in and take a look...might have to take a walk round the office
