Extended Warranties & Support

Hi Everyone:

While I think we already beat the horse to death on the e-machines thread regarding warranties, I heard from Adam and Tom at PC Torque today regarding this subject. I want to relay their comments. And, since this subject deserves its own header, maybe one of the moderators can cut and paste posts from that other thread pertaining to this subject (from about page 2 on, minus 3-4 posts thereafter) and paste in this thread.

In any case, I submitted suggestions to Clevo, Sager, and PC Torque today. For those of you who have raved about PC Torque's support, I must say initial first impressions are incredible. Both Tom and Adam responded within minutes. I can tell their service ethic is above standard! Nice!

While they wish not for me to paste actual email contents on the forum (and there is more than shown below), I can summarize that between the two of them it was stated:

Quote:
Sager doesn't offer an onsite support option and accidental damage which I think some out there really want though.

While we all know the above, I got the vibe from the conversation that this is something they are diligently considering. We'll see what happens. At least they are considering it. Maybe some of us who need these things should wait a little bit to see before going the Gateway 675 route.

Regarding the backlit keyboard request, I've posted in some other threads, Tom stated today:
Quote:
Sager notebooks don't have backlit keyboards yet, although that is a worthwhile suggestion.
Granted, folks, this is vague and no guarantees, but it sure sounds better than an absolute NO, or "we don't have plans to." I like the "we dont have backlit keyboard yet.... "

Hey, Clevo and Sager may be more willing to listen to someone like PC Torque than some forum schmuck like me?

That's my latest update. For now, I've got to get back to work and I'll keep checking in periodicially to see how things are going and to see how gsferrari is doing with the new lady, Ms. Prescott.

Peace EDR

LOL

So far what i see about the prescott I like. My initial impressions after looking at the reviews was also like "Oh Crap" !!

but the extra cache is not just there for no reason...this is no EE but i think it has potential to be more powerful IF, like they said, they manage to bring out the higher clocked ones (4 - 5 Ghz) soon...

For me - I am going to get a Prescott for purely experimental purposes. I dont play games at 1600X1200 - 1024X768 is more than enough if the fps is good. I want the prescott for other reasons...

its a good idea to approach people with suggestions and requests and after all - we ARE the reason they are in business. I think a joint effort will have more effect...lessee if we can pull something together. Thats the advantage we have in dealing with small scale operations - we CAN push them to make what we want...
