Should I switch from Sager 3880 to a dual core laptop?

I've been an owner of Sager 3880 for almost a year now. I am happy with the laptop, but sometimes i do feel that multitasking is not that great since i multitask a lot on my laptop. I thought of selling this laptop and getting a dual core. But i've heard that dual core does not outperform a single core by a lot. Would it be wise to sell my Sager 3880 (if i am still able to sell it), and get a dual core? Also, is there still a problem with USB ports and dual core laptops? If you had a single core and went to a dual core, what are your thoughts and opinions toward this? I am also afraid i will lose a lot of money if i sell the laptop because it's in a topnotch condition and it has almost everything maxed out such as 2.0 GHZ, 2 gig of RAM, 100 gig 7200RPM, and Gigabyte WIAG02 wireless card along with bluetooth.

A dual core may not outperform a single core by much when it comes to plain crunching numbers, but when it comes to multitasking, it rules the roost. As for whether or not this is a good plan of action for you... I dont kow. Thats really up to you. You seem to want to be able to multitask better, so that would lean towards doing it.

Problem with USB? Where did you ever hear that?

And about losing money. Of course youre going to take a hit, but thats the cost of upgrading....

I love my 3880. I hope a dual-core model of the exact some form factor becomes available in a year or so.

The perfect Laptop would be a 3880 with a Dualcore and a better video card, the 17"s are just too big.

There's a software problem with Windows and the Intel Centrino Duo mobile CPUs. When you have anything plugged into a USB port you lose significant battery power. You can read about it on Tom's Hardware or Anandtech.

Wow, thats really weird.

And a 17" isnt BIG ENOUGH. I want to upgrade my 4750 to a 19" real bad. I love big laptops. Also though, I love the ones with 9" screens. I guess I just like real big or real small.

Oh yeah, same here. I don't really like too big of a laptop either. It sort of defeats the purpose of a laptop, which is supposed to be portable without breaking ur back. But of course, i don't want to offend anyone who loves large laptop because I admit that a large laptop is really eye-catching. I think the sager 3880 is quite heavy already, but at the same time portable. Would anyone know if it would be difficult to sell a sager 3880 if i were to decide to sell it? I see some people selling their laptops left and right within a year when they get it and they get a pretty decent price for it.

I hope the successor to the 3880 keeps the bulging battery...best thing ever to pull the comp out of a briefcase!

That said, I don't know about selling prices. Be careful about scams (just read the thread about Jeremy Oliver on these boards) You may want to think about using an escrow service. Other than that, well, keep us informed on what you manage to get for it, I'm kinda curious myself. I think I'll hang on to the 3880 for a while longer, I'm hoping that a decent successor will come out.
