My D820 has one and only one fan, but it is rather large and does its job well.

My old D800 only shows one fan on Dell Service Manual, but there is a second fan within its Video Card (nVidia GeForce FX Go5650).

I assure you the D820 has only one fan, I've been poking around inside recently

Visa Aero minimum requirement is a 64MB dedicated gpu. 256 MB will be ample. Of course the more the merrier. But don't get it just for Aero. The amount of system ram will be very important also.

Hi, I just got my 820 today and just trying to set it all up. Anyone know much about this fingerprint reader? I activated in the Bios the security features but when I go to launch on program start on Security center I get a The applicaiton could not launch. Please try again.

Any ideas?

chuna- go back into bios and make sure both of the settings for the TPM (Trusted platform module) are enabled and that in the device manager in windows the fingerprint reader isnt disabled. Then if it still doesn't work you might want to reinstall the software.

tman thanks for the post. Yeah did all that. I think its time to call Dell and find out.

Thats odd man, you probably ought to make your own thread instead of cluttering up this thread

If you installed IE7, the Trusted Platform software won't work, thus getting the 'The applicaiton could not launch' error.

That's nVidia's specifications for the cards. Not Dell's, reiterating what Tman said there is only a single fan on the D820 regardless of which graphics option you have. The GPU, Chipset, and CPU all share the same heatpipe.

Anyone have any opinions on the chip speed? Is it worth the extra $170 or 300 for a 1.87 or 2.0 dualcore over the default?

Although the link is from nVidia, exactly the same information (i.e., the table) is provided when you click the "help me choose(?)" link while selecting GPU options for D820 at Dell's site. Still I'm wondering what exactly "active" cooling means in the case of 120m.

My guess is some retardicon at Dell just put the nVidia information on their page verbatim without any regard as to weather or not the D820 really has a dedicated active cooler for the 120M. Technically all the graphics card options in the 820 are active cooled.
