Nvidia or Radeon?

I might be ordering an alienware within the next 2 months when the new Nvida card comes out, but should i get the Nvidia or Radeon? Will there be a difference in graphics between the two? I've heard of a lot of problems with the Radeon card about it not being able to work on some games and stuff like that but i have also heard some bad about the Nvidia cards. Thanks for helping out a brotha!

I have the Nvidia go 5600 FX and it works great for me, Granted it lacks when it comes to Directx games but the stability is beyond that of the Radeon.

To sum it up with a few associations.

Nvidia = Stability, Proficiency w/ opengl, geared to animators or graphix pros, difficulty with high fps on DX games or apps.

ATI = Fast DX renders, opengl below nvidia, poor driver support, poor stability, takes modded or six releases of drivers to get to function the way you'd expect, Common porblems with artifacts in textures. Fast FSA & FFAA

It's your choice but if you go ATI either be patient or try to find drivers that better support it than ATI's.

PS Nvidia rumorly will have a 40% increase in overall DX performance when DX9.1 is released since DX was directed at ATI cards when orginally designed. I have no verification but may be something to look at latter.

Hope this helps.

Are you talking about Dx9 being directed toward ati or dx altogether? I'm pretty sure Ati wasn't around then, and I know nvidia wasn't...

I do have to disagree about ati having poor driver support. That seems to be a thing of the past. I used to cring at the thought of having an ATI, but they seems so much better than nVidia now...

Hello,

In my opinion RADEON, baby. It kicked ass from this review:

i will get the nvidia to begin with. and maybe the ati later it the nvidia is bad in games.
to have a good allround card you should get the nvidia, while if you are going to use the computer only for gaming; go ati.

have faith in DX 9.1 !!!

Looks like you have the Nvidia Time-Pilot. What games do you play on your pc? Do they run smoothly?

I have the Nvidia in my lappy and an ATI 9600 in a desktop. Both are about the same visually to me. The only difference is that I have to go to Omega for the ATI drivers, I have no idea why ATI can't come out with a decent driver. But thanks to the Omega drivers it now works fine.

As for Games. I play COD on the lappy, some BF1942 when I have time. Both run fine on either card. The Nvidia takes me less "tweaking" on normal use, but thats not a selling point for me, thats just part of using high end stuff.

For some reason it's taking me a long time to decide which one i'll be getting. I have a Nvidia in my dell right now but i have never had a computer with an ATI so i'm not sure which one i would like better.
Thanks for helping me!

Go test drive one at Best Buy or something. Or find someone that can give you a demo.

Ya, thats probably a good idea. Then i will at least be able to roughly tell which one i like better. At leastwith the alienware you can upgrade graphic cards and such.

right now theo nly card out there is the ATi 9600m Pro. On numbers it looks good, but if its AW version is anything like its siblins, it will ake aot of tweaking to gte it right, whereas any of the NV cards do not. The NV5600Go was a POS, but it was stable and didn't oberheat(unlike the ATi was prone to), The real test is when the NV5700Go Ultra/5700 Go and the ATi 9700m are released by AW.

If the NV5700 performs like its desktop brother, it can beat out the ATi card close to 100% of the time. So in that case, NV would own Ati.
