Vga Overheating Problem - Page 2

Should only cover the core. Too much paste was used in the picture. When they clamped the heatsink on, the excess paste was pushed out.

Is the heatsink on tight enough? Maybe it's making poor contact with the core.

Thats what I was begining to think. Always make sure contact is made between the core and the sink. Did you accidently damage the sink or any other part when you were performing this operation?

Could you maybe post a few pictures so we can see whats up with yours?

I had a similar problem when I 1st installed my Innovatek gpu water block. When I squeezed the block and vid card together, the temp would drop dramatically.

Checking the heatsink is a great idea. It's possible that it was bent slightly when you pulled it off of the vid card.

if you are still having a problem with your gpu

Is your MB rev 6.1 because it has to be that ver. for the 7800 GTX to work correctly. Also you may want to contact Sager ask for Mark or somone in tech i think you may have a bad card I know of several people who had the same problem and it was a faulty GPU. Also try using the FN+F2 key to boost your fan speed and see if you are still having the problem.
