Can a battery cause IRQ errors?

i just got a new 2nd hand spare battery for my sony s series off ebay (a reputable seller!)

since i started using it yesterday, my computer has had about 4 or 5 bluescreen crashes citing IRQ errors (haven't had any for months)

the error mentions 'if you have installed any new hardware recently.....'

these errors have happened even when i replaced the new battery with the original one, and when the computer is run off mains current without a battery

i reinstalled windows and it happened again

Try taking the battery out and running it off the AC adapter to test.

If the battery was not supply the required powered, yes it could.
