Pentium M vs Pentium 4 - Page 4

I did have fun. Did you see my proposal for a CPU that defies the laws of physics?
That reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from the Simpsons:

Homer: "And look, Lisa's perpetual motion machine doesn't even work. It just keeps on going faster and faster."
Marge: "Alright. We've got to put an end to this strike!"
Homer: "Right. Liiisa..."
Lisa: "Yes dad?"
Homer: "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!"

Well...looks like we're the only ones left having fun here...what happened to the other guys?

Maybe they had a life or they moved on to smoething similar like Honda Civic vs Toyota Corola
post #66 of 386
We all know the Honda Civic is built by the hooloovoo, a superintelligent shade of blue. So there is no debate there.

If you read deep into my posts you will clearly see that I agree with you. I've stated more than once not to invest in something you won't use. I've stated that everyone's needs are different, but those needs should be determined on objective criteria, and not equating wants with needs. To me, using a lappy only for email, word processing, some excel, taking notes, web surfing, etc., is not taking it anywhere near 100 miles per hour (as previously suggested), so in that case, yes, it's a waste of money to get a P4 (Ferrari).

I think alot of us are on the same page, some just like to argue. My only *argument* is that to say the PM is *as fast as* the P4w/HT ior even *virtually as fast as* or *probably near as fast* is flat out WRONG! Sorry. Otherwise, I'm on the same page.

I think you're right, but it's not totally clear, and I don't think those versions exist either, all of which says Clone has no idea what he/she is talking about. I've been reading other posts by Clone and someone earlier said something about Dash being a teen, or not having reached puberty yet, sounds like Clone is in that class too - no pun intended. HA!

That was actually a good pun, I chuckled. Humor is precious.

Civis are built by illegal immigrants imported by WalMart. They work only at night, much like the keebler elves!

Ignore me...long day at work plus I am drunk.

Since we all want *lighter* and smaller lappy's with all the power too, maybe Will Ferrel and his gang of elves can create lappy's to fit their small *size* and we'll all have what we want. We'll all be happy. Can't we all just get along?

Wow

You boys really got busy between the times I left work..drove 45 miles home in a Southern Illinois ice-storm and finally settled down here for a lil more instigation. On my comfy couch with my M1..watching the Duke-UNC game..listening to the brand new Boston Acoustic speakers the UPS guy was kind enuf to leave at my home this morning. Man, do they resonate with some serious volume..even with the notebooks generic sound card these babies put my home-stereo system to shame. Maybe I can get a thread started comparing these and Harmon Kardons. Hmmm, another thread loaded with passion and anguish.

One thing I noticed, and this is pretty great, I've found a disciple in EDR..you go brother! Nice to have someone fuel the fires of controversy when I'm not around. Guess that makes 2 ppl out here stoking the P4 coals.

By the way, who's the acurarrx character? Seems he went and checked out cpu scorecard, but couldn't figure out how to get into the specific benchmarks for each processor. Based on the protean genius he put into his replies this doesn't really surprise me though.

And one last thought..I really need to stay out of these forums 'cause I realize I've reduced myself to using animated smilies for God's sake.

Dude, speaker resonance is a bad thing. Guess you are not an audiophile. Maybe you should not start a thread on audio, as the true audiophiles will really flame you to the point of evaporation.

X?

So, what's this I'm reading X? You're getting into the wine a little bit? Between that and the krispy kremes you could do yourself some terrible damage.
Tell ya, I'm in the process of belting back a couple Mick Ultras to soothe my nerves after that drive home. We had about 3 inches of snow covered by 2 inches of ice on I55. I basically got a good 30 mile run at it...locked up my brakes..and skated the last 15 miles. Really conserve fuel that way.

What is the M1?

M1?

Yeah M1, I'm sitting here with a WWII issue army rifle to my mouth..I will pull the trigger if you all do not say in unison "The P4 rules...and the "M" drools".
'Course I did really mean the G1. And I suppose my use of the word "resonate" is not aprapo? Well, put in a strong adjective of your own to describe the unearthly experience culled from listening to a set of Boston Acoustics over a couple brews and Duke-UNC game.
