hey, never owned a wireless mouse before, howeer, when i purchase one for my notebook, where do i plus the "wireless plus" into the notebook, so the mouse will recognise it

If you use a normal wireless mouse it'll have a usb dongle that will just plug into one of the USB ports on your laptop and it will recognize your mouse within a few seconds. Some mice are different and you have to hit a little connect button on the bottom for the dongle to see the mouse but most of the newer ones will just see it automatically. If you have bluetooth in your laptop you can use a bluetooth mouse and forgo the dongle all together. Then all you have to do is turn BT on and it will see the mouse.

oh ok thanks heaps, possibly purchase a wireless mouse later. the reason for this is that this is my first ntoebook pruchase, and have used notebooks note much, don't really like the use of that built in mouse pad, especially for long times, can be frustrating. and in this other thread titled "what do you carry with your notebook". about 90% of people who have replied, carry a mouse.

I would use one of those Microsoft Mini wireless notebook mouses, they're about 25$ USD (30 CAD) and they work great... I'd hate to run out of batteries in class though, especially if you cant use the touchpad good.. But i think touchpad is good enough for lectures, seeing as you mostly type stuff down rather than scroll through sites.

yea tru. probably jsut bid on one on ebay...

The touchpad would be fine if you needed to use it, but for convenience, I do recommend getting a mouse. There are many small wireless mice designed to be used with laptops. Even a wired mouse with a retractable cord would probably be sufficient.

yea. them mini mouses. how small are the compared to a normal sized mouse?
depends how big your hands are...I would suggest going to a store and actually putting your hands on different kinds/sizes...and also how long you plan on using the mouse b/c the small mini mouse type get uncomfortable after a long session but then again it is mostly personal pref...so go to a store and get your hands on them first...you then know which mouse to buy off of ebay.

I prefer the large mice to the minis.

Why? Functionality is key. So is ergonomics (I have large hands).

I got a Logitech MX610 around 2 weeks ago for $40 with a rebate. Amazing mouse. Very customizeable buttons, especially with various software. Sleek look. TINY USB thingie. Like an inch sticking out of my laptop. And excellent signal despite having 4 2.4 GHz phones working in the area. Batteries are great. 2 AA(A)s have lasted me these two weeks fine. I'm quite sure they aren't even NEAR half dead yet. Best thing though is that you can turn the mouse off via power button whenever you want. It's just too good. Definitely rapes all those mini mice for $10 more.

I can't stand coreless mice due to battery always dieing on my right in the middle of gaming and i do spend a lot of time.. I use a Logitech Mx310 which is basically the same as the Mx610 with a cord... 10$ less too and never have to worry about it dieing on you.. especially in lectures.. god i'd hate that

I also have the MX610 laser mouse, I've had it for about 5 months though. Best mouse I've used, hands down. It's a little bigger than a normal size mouse which I like as I never liked the little mice much. The tracking is excellent and there is only like a 1/2 second delay when it's been sleeping before it comes back to life. It also has forward/back/volume(up, down, mute), mail, IM and scroll(all directions) buttons on it, so there is never a lack of things you can do without taking your hands off the mouse. If you want a full featured, full size mouse this is one to really consider.

get thelogitech MX610.
i bought one and fell in love with it, a day later i went back to the store and bought three more, one for every machine i have. then the other night i found this site http://logigamer.com
download the 'Uberoptions' utility. it allows you to bind anything to any button on the mouse, so your not stuck with limited options. now i love the mouse even more. matter of fact im thinking of hardwiring the dongle on the inside of my machine i like the mouse so much. the only possible way it could be any better is if they came out with a bluetooth laser version, so i wouldnt have to mod anything. theres my two cents, hope its helped.

oh, did i mention this mouse rules?!?!?!

wow, u guys really get into mouses. i jsut want a mouse that is preferably cordless, laser, with two buttons and the scroll. @ university, we have the mouses with all the bells n whistles. i always bumped the "backward" button which is annoying, which is why i dun't like them, maybe cos i ain't useed to them but yea, prefer the older style ones

My brother uses a logitech G7 Laser cordless. Overall i think its a pretty decent mouse. What sucks about it, in my opinion, is the battery. It comes with 2 rechargable logitech batteries which is good so u don't have to buy new batteries, but they only last about a day so u have to swap batteries pretty often.

I forgot to mention the battery life on my MX610 is very good. I've had it 5 months, use it everyday and I've changed the batteries twice since I got it(I just changed them a couple days ago for the second time). So they batteries last about 2 months on average, which is pretty good for a laser mouse that takes 2 AA batteries.

my batteries last me three weeks at least, and i use it about 14 hrs a day.
