Hi, ajbrutico does you laptop work ok at them clocks its just that thay were the maximum setting in the optimal clock setting , is it stable at them clock settings ??

They seemed to work fine, but I didn't like the fan on all the time during games -- I only saw the temp on the board got to 79 degrees max, so I dropped it to 550/710, and played over an hour of oblivion without any problems and minimal fans. But I can say that I saw no artifacts when OC'ing to the recommended mem/core settings. I assume its stable, but just didnt like all the noise.

hey does OCing drain ur battery life like crazy? does OCing void ur warranty? If your GPU gets messed up will CompleteCare cover that lol

OCing Will Void your Warranty

Since when does someone "need" to overclock their GPU???

"I've got the fastest laptop that is currently available on the market... but it's not making my nose bleed yet... Scotty I need more power!!!"

Only if they spend the time and money to research on your fried Video card, which might cost more than just replace it in long run.

You overclock so it goes faster. Duh.

But there is no "need". He makes it sound like life or death. As if is 3DMark05/06 scores will get him into a better college or something.

Its Like If I buy A new turbo car, I would need to turn the boost up to give it that extra bhp.

The answer Yes and NO, they would have to know you did it to void your warrenty, but if they replaced the card and then found out you OC'd card (very unlikely)they could void your warrenty.

The battery life would only be affected if you are playing game on battery at full clocks but the system/card automaticly clocks down when on battery so shouldnt affect battery life much ( I haven't test this).

A driver update is not required ( your choice), I did my testing with the default Dell driver.

thanks alot zyb. I've also heard about setting it for high performance vs high quality. Obviously you'll get better performance at the high performance end but is it visually noticeable, what do people usually put em on?

blah i wish my m1710 wud get here its still in boxing

seems like the core is good usually for at least 550/700, sometimes 600/700, but ajbr seems to be conservative, which, imo is a good thing.

I'll wait till someone fully tests it and comes up with a downloadable ISO on CD and makes it a sticky hehe.
