May 1 and all those rumors of this 14" Core Duo coming out today have died away.

that's too bad, i was looking forward to it.

Hold on a few more days, It'll come.

The 640m is listed on the Small Biz site:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=04&l=en&s=bsd

The WXGA+ (1440 x 900) display option looks cool (still GMA though).

The 640m seems too expensive, I'd rather get a latitude D620 for that price. However, the 640m does have an intergrated soundcard option which is nice, but no video card option .

from what i see, it's just a slightly throttled-down version of the E1505/6400. a little lighter, sure, and a tad smaller.. i don't see much of a market for this particular laptop. dell just needs to make a good solid core duo 12", preferably with a dedicated graphics option, even if it is the x1400.

Apart from the Integrated Gfx, I dont see why its garbage. As my user name suggests, I was about to buy the 6400 until I actually saw one and realised how HUGE it was. 14" on the other hand would be a better size, and this is the one im going to purchase once its avaliable in Australia. There is definitely a market buddy. Oh, I see you have the E1505, that probably explains your negative view.

You should check out the XPS M1210, then :-).

14" laptops do have a market. My friend wants one badly. But with dedicated graphics, and that's where the 640m fails, IMHO.

Sweet, just picked one up today with the WXGA+ Screen for under 600 bucks. Go dell!
Congrats Xarthan,

I picked one up yesterday for about $645 before taxes & 3% fatwallet.com cash back. How did you get yours for under $600?

Mine is already in testing with a ship date of 5/17.

one thing i noticed is that the 640m/41405 does not have integrated bluetooth. Unless i missed it in the configurations page. I would definetly wait on this laptop a few weeks to see if they add more stuff to it like different grafx options or the BT. I also dont like the extended battery sticking out from the back. It was ok with the 700m, but having a choice again i wiould rather not have it

I think the Bluetooth option might be available per telephone.
Someone was able to add the bluetooth with a phone call after ordering it through EPP, the manual does have instructions on adding bluetooth, I am just putting in my bluetooth card from my not so old 630m.

I got the 50 off DPA Coupon in my bill. Combined that with the 35% off 999 laptop and with Fatcash it'll come out to be under 600 dollars. You could also use the 35 off coupon instead of the 50 DPA coupon, if you aren't able to get one. So my final price with the WXGA+ and 80GB upgrade was 1024 - 358.40(35%) - 50 DPA Coupon - 12.31(2% DPA Checkout coupon) = 603.29 - 3% FatCash Of course this deal will be alot hotter if there was a 40% coupon vs the 35% I'm hoping that these WXGA+ screen's will be alot better than the standard WXGA's we've been getting on the m140/630m

yep, that was me, I called up, found out she could put bluetooth in, so ended up ordering the whole system over the phone with bluetooth included. ended up about $30 cheaper than buying the card separately from dell.
