AMILO D 1840 help!

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, as this is my first post

I'm hours from buying a fujitsu siemens amilo d1840 3.0hgz, 1024Mb 80Gb hd.
But I'm concerned about 3 points:

1) it can only bun dvd+ discs. I have a dvd-R burner at home. Can I still READ dvd- burned discs on this laptop (as I would on a normal dvd-rom drive).

2) I have to heavily use the HD. This laptop comes with a 80GB rpm4200 disc.
Is it FAST enough for DV footage, loading times, premiere/after effects work?

3) the reseller site claims battery lasts up to 2.5 hours. (or course without using the laptop at all )
How long is the battery going to last using 3dsmax/photoshop/aftereffects (all graphics intensive applications?)

Hardrive Speed

I read a review on a Fujitsu 3010 that had the same HDD, and during firewire capture of video it dropped one frame. While this is still good, I didn't want to drop any, so when purchasing my N5010, I had it upgraded to an 80 gig 5400 HDD.
