FPS's tend to really mess with people that have cases of motion sickness. There's a couple of guys I know, and many more I have known that get sick playing FPS.

the only game that made me ill was half life 2. I loved it, it was amazing, i play LOTS of FPS's, but with that one there were moments where i had to stop for a bit.

Someone posted a thread about the same thing a month or so ago. It was also due to an FPS game.

Do you ever get motion sickness, like in a car or train?

I get motion sickness fairly badly, and I've never once had a problem with a game. What gets me are those iMax cinemas...

FPS games also give me headaches. I usually get this when I'm playing Counter Strike 1.6. I think its a mix of motion sickness and repetitive gameplay. (Recently, most FPS games are still the same, shoot, kill, shoot, kill, etc..)

Said it in the previous thread, I'll say it in this one. Glasses. I wear glasses for computer useage, and I don't have the problem with sickness as I used to.

HL2 gave me headaches. Doom 3 did too but not as much.

Same here. Since my eyeballs are on some sort of display 9+ hours at work and more at home be it crt or lcd my eyes where killing me along with headaches and nausia(sp?) I wear glasses ONLY for computer stuff, and they are pretty low prescription...like in all honestly I don't need them. What has really helped though is the anti-glare film. Cut down the headaches to nearly nothing.

I'm in the same boat. I can't play FPS at all without getting sick after a bit. Got headaches and felt like I wanted to hurl...Not fun... I found this out on the original Half-Life while in college, so I tend to stick to sports and Warcraft, C&C type games. It sucks.

I am the opposite - never get motion sick IRL but FPS games can make me feel sick, especially if there is lots of running going on.

I cant play any First Person Shooters, so I stick to Warcraft III, Diablo 2...No Headaches there!

I get motion sickness every once in a while while playing FPSs. I usually just take a break for a while and am fine when I go back.

The worst one for me, motion sickness wise, is the MoH series. Don't know why.

when i watch my friends play FPS i get a headache and feel like i'm going to vommit...guess its all the bobbing up and down lol

I get the same thing for the first few hours that I play an FPS, and I even get a bit of it with games like City of Heroes that have quick third-person rotation. I think that the military calls it "simulator sickness," and if you google around with that term you will find lots of interesting studies.

Other than just acclimation over time (which sometimes doesn't work - just the thought of Serious Sam and the original Castle Wolfenstein makes me ill), you can try not playing when you are tired, drunk, or hungover (if the latter two even appy to you), and taking frequent breaks. No guarantee that it will cure what ails you, but it might help.

The only FPS game that gave me less motion sickness was Alien vs Predator!
