XPS Personalization Shield on E1705?

Is this even possible? I have seen the shield on XPS170's but I can remember anyone talking about throwin one on a 9300/9400.

Also, can someone post a picture of a personalization shield that is not yet installed on a lappy. I'm not even sure what they look like unattached.

I've got a Carbon Fibre kit on my E1705. Personally, I like it more than the personalization shields (I've seen and used em), sure, other than the fact that you can actually...PERSONALIZE them

Can you post a pic of your carbon fiber on the 1705. I have a pic of the kit itself (looks pretty nice). Even more of what I was looking for than the shield.

Does it hide the white boarders at all? I really can't stand those. I wish Dell would have made Inspiron look more like Latitude.

Thanks for posting back quickly! Have some rep.

Your 1705 does look nice, but I don't think I'm gonna drop another $30 on a shield that won't cover the white.

I had a carbon fiber cover on my i9300 before I transformed it in to an XPS. I got a new i9300 for my wife and and figured she wouldn't like that. So... I decided to custom paint it to match her pink Motorola V3 RAZR.

Anyway... Here is a screen shot. I lightly sanded it, put two coats of the pink on it, followed by a little wet sanding and one more coat of pink. After that two coats of clear.

That's pretty cool....

i also have the carbon fiber kit on my 9400, i love it, but i am also awaiting the arrival of my Personalization shield i jsut purchased from dell for 28.00 shipped.

I will probably sell one of them to my friend who has the 9300 and keeps stalling on the lid covers.

I will try to get pix up as soon as i can. laters

Sorry bud, your rep doesn't amount to jack until you have 100 posts. So, in light of that, I'll rep him for you.

is there like a gap between the shield/cover and the lappy, or is it flush withthe cover?

in other words if i push down on the cover will there be any flex?

also that xps cover does look too bad on the 9400

EDIT: i take that back about the xps shield it does look too bad lol

not sure about the flex/flush fitting question, I will let you know when i get mine installed. It shipped yesterday so it should be here fri or monday..

the pic i posted is from another thread, not mine, cant take credit for it.
