Getting ready to replace my gaming laptop!

Thread Starter

Hey All!

I am new to the forums here, but definitely been impressed with a lot of the threads that I have been reading.

I am a very satisfied Dell Inspiron 8100 system and it has been perfect for gaming. It is reaching its two-year mark and since it was only a 1.13ghz system, it is starting to outdate itself. So... the reason for my post.

I am looking to see what everyone thinks here concerning the best gaming laptops. Dell doesn't seem to be getting the same emphasis as it did with the 8100 and I know that Alienware has been taking hold of the advertising. But the add for the 8790 in the latest Maximum PC made me start looking at the Sager and brought me to PCtorque.

I would love to hear some of your comments and experience. I won't be purchasing for another month, so this gives me time to do some research.

Thanks for your help!

Don't forget to check out http://www.abscomputers.com
Many posts and reviews on the various notebooks they carry: Mayhem G1 and the ZForce F2 are very popular. You can get a lot of info from the owners, and I believe most of it will be pretty positive and helpful.

ABS Mayhem G1
15.4" WXGA 1280x800 TFT Display
512MB DDR333 SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 Processor 2.8GHz 800MHz FSB w/HT Technology
ATI Mobile Radeon 9600 w/128MB graphic memory

Since you're looking at Sagers, you might as well go with them.

Doesn't seem like you care about portability, battery life etc... so I'd recommend a Sager 4080, or Hypersonic NX6/ABS Mayhem G1.

The new Gateway 675 is also an excellent choice.

Actually, I have been fully focused on the Alienware's for the past couple months until recently. It appears I can get similar for less on the Sager, but I am not sure how they measure up in gaming. Thus my post.

When I bought my 8100, I could find several laptop reviewes as they relate to gaming. I haven't found recent reviews and so I am unsure where the top performers are. With the Gateway, I just haven't looked much (I have looked a bit), but without the options to customize online, they haven't grabbed my interest.

But I do thank both of you for your replies and looking forward to other comments from others.

Thanks!

But you guys do have a link from the abscomputers site. I just always assumed it was one and the same. So, if you don't mind, what it the association between abscomputers and abspc?
