Toshiba 1555 CDS laptop with a K6-2 380 Mhz chip with a 4gb hard drive. Can anyone tell me if i can put a larger hard drive in say a 15 to 20 gb? Thanks for any help

Hey David, welcome.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get larger drive. Even if you're still running the stock OS it came with (Win98se) you should be fine.

In my opinion, regardless of size, stick with a 4200rpm or 5400rpm drive (you can find a bunch real inexpensive on eBay) because of heat issues; for a laptop built around 2000, I doubt they factored in the extra heat/power consumption that the newer 7200s put out. I know its usually negligible, but still, hate to take risks with data.

Let me know how it works out. If I can be of any other help, it's just a PM or post away.

Hard drive

Put in a 20 gig drive no problems at all.
