X1600 in an E1505

Lets say for some reason, Dell would begin to sell X1600's in spare parts, would it fit an E1505?

Is there anyway if the card did fit to get the card without having to take it off another lappy?

And why wouldnt it be available?

Would it give overheating problems and such?

There has to be 2 things that happens for a video card to work.
1. It has to fit
2. The laptop's bios has to support it. Ususally you can find people willing to hack the bios for non-supported configs like the 7800 in a 9300.

So if someday down the road Dell introduced a new video card for the 1505 then we would most likely be able to upgrade.

Sounds good, but how can you upgrade?

I've been looking for some stores to sell only the GPU, none found so far. Can you purchase a stronger GPU directly from Dell ?

dell desn't offer cards it doesn't support in their systems, so no.

Ok, but what if I have got a X1300 and want to upgrade to a X1400 for example? Is this possible somehow?

Yes, but only through Dell

To sum it up, Dell has to make a the card availible for the computer you have or a chassis that is compatible. Dell must customize the card itself in order for it to work and fit. That means customizing heatsinks, heatpipes, connectors, and other stuff.

So unfortunately, it isnt going to happen, unless dell actually makes it (and I really wish they did). Believe me, I went through this stage too. I call denial now.

If Dell did release something, I think it would probably be something along the lines of a ATI x1600 or Nvidia 7600 Go.

In regards to upgrading your card to a x1400, that is a perfect example of something that is VERY feasible.

Hope that helps!

Well how much might the costs be? Dunno what an upgrade X1300->X1400 costs, but I think X1400->X1600 might be even more expensive!?
