Good to know..I just copied my dell media experience from my m170 and will try it on my m90 when it arrives.

From the benchmarks, it's about the same as a 7900GTX, if not the same. I don't think I'll do the bios hack so that I can OC it, but I'm sure if someone does it will be a great gaming card. Granted, I'm not saying anyone should buy the M90 for gaming. I game very little and mostly use my laptop for work, so that's why I choose the M90. I also thought it would be kewl to get so that I may start 3D modelling again

Googling the quadro chip I find lots of people and general talk about quadro cards. I have tried gaming on older quadro deksotp cards couple years ago and the quadro card generally performs about 50% of the equivelant consumer card in games, this seems to be the general consensus among other forums. The drivers are simply not tuned for gaming.

Same thing with a firegl card I had 6 months ago. It scroed extremely high in 3dmark05 but games were extremely laggy. I think this is going to be the case here as well.

Awesome and great purchase! try to get some doom3 timedemo benches. You just control alt tilda, then type "timedemo demo1" and do that twice because the first one is not cached.

Max settings at 1920x1200 avg. 8.9fps

doesn't seem to good to me, but I did have the settings completely maxed out.

update the drivers and see what you get

Maybe these Quadro cards are under-clocked or perhaps people are making the wrong comparisons between chips. I used to have a Quadro4 700 and the performance was absolutely identical in any benchmark I tried to a Geforce 4 4200 (the equivalent chip) when set to the same clock speeds. Although everybody (including on this forum) always says that Quadro cards are much worse for gaming, there never seem to be any benchmarks from any games (or even from 3D Mark) to back this up. Have you found any?

Sorry if it seems like I am trying to argue...I just want to make sure that nobody is put off from buying a Quadro card just because of rumours of poor gaming performance, when this does not seem to be the case.

I would love to be wrong. I personally have never seen quadro cards perform exceptional in games. I hope they do perform good though as it seems to be a very nice machine.

As soon as i get my M90 i will do some serious gaming benching just to desmistify the performance of the quadro in games.

Gandalf, when are you due to receive yours? I'm currently holding back from choosing the M1710 or the M90 in order to see how the Quadro performs (and whether it can be OC'ed)

I think it will arrive Friday, not sure yet.

Here is a comparison that shows favorable benchmarks(6800 based cards).

edit..here is a better one: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...pc/default.asp

Hmm. So the cards were almost identical at higher res with AA/AF on, but the Quadro was beaten up at lower res.....

I'd still like to see the 7900gtx/fx2500 comparison. I really want to see the fx2500 come out well as I'm not keen on the aesthetics of the M1710

Anyone tried omega drivers yet? That's what I use on my i9300 w/6800go in it. Built in overclocking utility in the display options menu makes for fun times. From what I've heard of the Quadro 2500 is that its the exact same core as the 7900gtx. Thus, any sort of performance differences would be external to the chipset I would think. I'm sure they use the same cooling system, so they're probably not dumbed down, but someone could post the stock clock speeds of the M1710 and an M90 and we might be able to learn something that way.

It has pretty much been determined that is performs on par with the 1710 and that it can be overclocked with the same flash utility as the 7900gtx. Please visit the m90 overclock thread to see sir meili's overclock or my in game fps.
