hey guys how old were ur kids by the time they could start playing more complicated games, like cod2, bf2 etc. properly. not talkin abt barney, sesame street etc. asking cause i just had a kid & was wondering when ill have to start saving up for a new lappy. some of my nephews, 6-7 yrs old dont remember, cudn't do too well on more intense games. and to me it seemed it wouldnt make a difference if they played HL1 or HL2.

I got a very classy laptop desk...

from www.levenger.com.

Mine is the large one and fits my 9400 very nicely. It has a very nice cherrywood finish, a black cushion, a slot to hold the mouse cord (if needed) and fits my 9400 perfectly. Of course, when my 1710 gets here, it will be even nicer. (Mom is inheriting my decked out 9400...she wanted to know if it was powerful enough to play spades online and do accounting Yes, Mom, and you can even play Oblivion on it, but nevermind that....

Hope this helps some of those looking for a classy looking laptop desk.

Not to malign the vinyl table, sir, which matches perfectly with the faux leopard and such

I did a search for a good table for that purpose and I found this one..

It is really cool, the height is adjustable and at 30" by 15" has plenty of room for your speakers, mouse pad, snacks I just take my shoes off, put a bunch of pillows against my beds headboard and off to Cyrodill I go The wheels make it easy to roll table out of way when you want to get up. This particular table adjusts from 30" to 47" high so I also use it sometimes when Im on my feet laying some music tracks on my lappy.
Here is shot of the height adjusting handle (spring loaded so really easy)

Ok then, just tought I should share this with ya, just do a search for "overbed table" ther are lots of different ones, I found this one on amazon and it was $65 when I got it a couple of months back...
Ohh, the brand on this one is "medline"

I am hoping you are not trying to pull a Homer by gaining 700 pounds to gain disability, and this is your future planning

Well i don't know about kids my self... seeing as i don't have any. Don't fancy kids at the age of 21...

However i played complicated games when i was 4+. I started on the Sinclair spectrum playing games such as Green berrete and the great escape. Moving onto the Atari ST when i was 6 which i then played populous 2 and Mega lo Mania etc. i completed most games i played.

I think its down to the individual really, however the younger they start the better and faster they will become, providing they enjoy it.

Mine was like 2 when he played spongebob on the xbox. 3 when he saw big brother playin Halo and wanted to. I watch closely what he plays because of the ignorant game makers that thinks its cool to have the charactors say the F word every three words in an intro.... Or Like when I uploaded Bmxxx to his xbox thinking it was just a bycicle racing game and I overheard " Now take the hooker to the pimp to get extra points" ??? I was like WTF ?....

2-3 Mastered point and click on the Pc... He plays the kids games which uses the up down arrows and the space bar... I never really let him play any pc fps but I'll let him try and get back to you on that....

hmm sure that wud be a good idea.
about the tables itself. i think it would be a good idea to cut a few holes beneath them where the vents r for better airflow.

I got the same Levenger device as Caff, and I have to say it was the best $50 I ever spent! The thing has lots of space and soft padding on the bottom, but it's small enough you can throw it in the car and take it to a hotel on business with minimal loss of space...that's the advantage of a board instead of a table...I guess if you're never going to move the lappy out of the house, a table would be better, though, since it's semi-permanent and has more space...maybe I'll buy one for working in bed after all, and save the Levenger for car trips and hotels!

I did modify my lapdesk slightly by supergluing a strip of Velcro on the back in order to hold my cord in place while I game (the powercord has been similarly velcro-ed).
