System file-browsing is not that fast!

I hate it... I have a desktop with an Athlon XP 3200+ and 256!!! MB of RAM... and when I click on folder in order to open it, it opens fastly.. no lag...
but in my laptop, E1505/I6400, there's a little lag when I open a folder.. it waits like 1/2 of second, but it's annoying.. it shouldn't wait.. it even displays the hourglass... any idea? I have defragmented recently.. and have only 8 gigs used...
