to Speedstep or not

Thread Starter
should i enable speedstep (ondemand) as in reduce my clocks to 800 MHz while idle? i have a Pentium M 735 extreme pin modded to 2.26 GHz using 1.420V. should i be concerned with the longevity of my chip and use ondemand Speedstep? i force my fans to 100% as it is.

Umm, honestly it doesn't matter.

If you run on batteries a lot, then it'll be smart to use the speedstep to use a little power as possible, thus making the battery last longer. If you run your computer as a mobile desktop, then let the CPU run at full steam all the time, it's not gonna hurt it.

Although, undervolting and using speedstep will save you about 14 celsius degrees (does for me). Lower temperatures, less fan noise, and silence is beautiful. That and some people get noise from the processor itself when it's at a higher multiplier and unused.
