Latest on Logitech MX1000 BlueTooth Version?

Does anyone know if the Logitech MX1000 is available on it's own yet in the Bluetooth version (i.e., NOT along with the keyboard)?

I've searched these forums but haven't found a very recent discussion of this.

I'm in the UK if it makes a difference.

Cheers

If I'm not mistaken the MX900 is the bluetooth version of the MX1000.

I'm not sure, but I tihnk the 900 is optical and the 1000 is a laser sensor. A different world from what I've heard but some of it may be tech-hype.

Yes, it is completely different. The MX900 is actually the bluetooth version of the MX700, both of which are optical and not laser mice. I have bluetooth for my laptop and thought about getting a bluetooth mouse but realized none of them are very good (for gaming and precision work) and just bought a Logitech G7. If the bluetooth is really essential for portability, get a good "Home" mouse and a cheap bluetooth one for using on the go.

Ahh, I hadn't realized that the MX900 was optical.

The MX1000 is the mouse that comes as part of the MX5000 wireless desktop. Unfortunately it has previously come in a USB wireless version - only the MX5000 version was BlueTooth.

I use my laptop at various places at home, and rather than dragging around the USB receiver, I'd rather use the inbuilt BlueTooth receiver in my 9400. So I'd like a really good BT mouse for most use - the only other one I'd seen really was the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse, but the MX1000 was getting great reviews.

It wouldn't matter... Either way you need a Cradle, Why? How are you going to charge it? The Micrsoft Ones run on battary, while the Logitech one has a recharagble Battery, so either way you need the Dongle. I bought a G7 thinking that I could get rid of the dongle, but then realized that the battery life is now half, so I still need to drag along the dongle in order to keep a constant battery charging. As in 4-5 hours I would be out of luck.

Thanks for your input darkloki.

You don't need the cradle just to use it. So if I needed to work in a certain room for a few hours, with a charge the MX1000 would work without the cradle.

But to work with my USB mouse, I still need to take the receiver wherever I'm working.

But you're right, ultimately, I need to reconnect the BlueTooth mouse for recharging - but this would be the exception rather than the rule.

I think it would be great for me. I'm thinking very hard about the combo with the split keyboard and the funny "D" name. I work in my office part of the day and I'm working with co-workers in theirs at other times, throw in a random meeting here and there. Now I have a 518 with a wire for at home to game with and a cool blue tooth mouse I can use/leave at work and not have to worry about a dongle breaking off or getting lost (I use a RF mouse currently). Since the keyboard is so thin it will fit in my sleevecase back folder pocket nicely and I'll carry that back and forth to work but leave the media/number pad thing at home and use it as a BT remote for movies (the media center IR reciever is So lame) and to control iTunes. At least it sounds really cool, I don't know if the keyboards will even connect without the mouse though because I think it;s first in the rotation for hooking them up. Anyway, I think it would be cool...

MX1000 also comes included with Logitech's diVino bluetooth keyboard and mouse pack. keyboard small enough to fit my notebook tote.

I just got the mx5000 keyboard and mx1000 mouse combo today(bought it from dell for only $103-discount & free shipping) and I like it alot. My sister is getting my mx1000 usb mouse, I want to have a all in one solution and I really like this combo. I have bluetooth on my 9300 but the only extra it does is give you the temp. of your room if you connect the receiver(which I did cuz hey it came with it).

OK, so it looks like most folk like the MX1000 BT mouse if they can get it, but you still can't buy it on it's own.

Should I just opt for the Microsoft BlueTooth Intellimouse as a second best then?

I don't think the MS one has an off switch, so you have to pull the batteries everytime you put it away if you want it to last for any length of time.

Bugger! Can you recommend a next best then MrDublin, seeing as how the MX1000 doesn't seem to be available?

Currently I don't see a better BT mouse than the MX1000. If I had to buy a BT mouse I don't really know what I would do. I think this is the only BT Laser mouse being produced. I would have to think that eventually they will offer it separately. If your interested I found someone on eBay that is breaking up the set and selling the mouse. If interested this is probably your best chance to get one. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Bluetooth-Lo...QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for that link MrDublin. I'm in the UK, so I'd rather buy more locally, but I'm thinking that for now, I'll probably leave it. I think you're right - they probably will offer it separately at some point - I've asked someone at Logitech to phone me back to explain why it isn't already offered. Cheers for the help.

yeah the mx 1000 bt mouse is great. i play war3 with it and other wireless mice i have used all have lag or are inaccurate. the mx 1000 is the closest to my wired mx 510 i can find. btw, logitech is having a 30USD rebate on the dinovo media desktop, which includes the mx1000bt.

No, my Microsoft mouse is BT, and Laser.
