the older the better. I mean it runs cooler and quieter than ever before and provides ultimate kickass during gameplay. That's it. Thank you for your attention

I've been hoping my XPS would have its processor start breeding to give me dual core and the graphics card to evolve into a 7900GTX but so far it's not happening

I love my Gen2. No complaints here!!!!! HL2 runs SOOOOOOOO silky, and heck even Oblivion plays well at high detail, for the most part.

how about steroids or some type of growth hormone? I hear that the xps line has the ability to feed on the lifeforce of its falllen opponents.. It'll continue to grow more powerful, but to recieve such an awesome promotion, you'll have to take on some hard core opponents..

My XPS-2 is still the shit.
I agree.
Love the damn thing.
I won't enjoy another laptop until it's absolutely 10 steps ahead compared to the XPS-2.

mines only gotten better with time as well. Now it sports a 7800gtx instead of a 6800u, as well as doubled ram at 2gb, and a new atheros wifi network card. Heck i even got a usb beverage cooler.

all smiles here.

As it says in my custom title...XPS 2 ftw!!1!

Agreed. My Gen2 plays better than the day I got it (7800 GTX). The fact that we were able to upgrade the video card with minimal fuss still amazes me. Just last week I was complimented on how great games look on it. Does it get any better than playing Oblivion on a long car ride? What a great way to pass the time.

I just cleaned out the dust in the fans/grills with compressed air last week. It was pretty dirty in there.

XPS Gen2 RULESS

Yup I'll be holding on to my Gen2 for a long while yet. I'm not wowed over by dual core or the next minor evolution in graphics cards. My last machine was a desktop that I built originally with a Athlon XP 1800, GeForce 2 GTS -- upgraded later to an XP 2400 and GF 4 Ti 4400. It was only until a game came out that was literally unplayable (BF2) on my system that I got the Gen2. It simply won't run without an FX-series or later card. So as you can see I'm not the type that runs out and drops 3 grand on a new machine every year. I make my purchase last and last, and that's exactly what we have on our hands with the excellent Gen2

I looked at the 1710 but chose to upgrade my Gen 2 to a 7800 instead. I'll also be getting another gig of RAM. I should be set for a while.

Thank you for this thread.

My xps has served me well over the last 9 months but new games like Oblivion are starting to test the limits of the system. I plan on getting a 7800 gtx or 7900 if it will fit eventually, but I plan on keeping the machine until merom and directx 10 hardware.

The Gen 2 has to be the absolute greatest leap in laptop notebook tech for what it was when it came out (It out ran the fastest desktops). You guys should have no problems gaming a good while to come So enjoy
