Whitebook barebones savings?

The company I work for is speculating on buying "Whitebook" notebooks, then putting the hardware together to sell to our customers. What kind of savings would I expect (assuming identical components are used) over buying a complete system from an online reseller? We will most likely be ordering ASUS, Compal, MSI, Quanta, etc.

Thanks!

There is a lot of what if's.

Assembly of whitebooks is very fast, usually only 15min to be done. They are designed that way. They may or may not save much money because you will end up paying a bit more for components (cpu, ram, hd) then you would if you bought a name-brand unit.

however if you are going to use a large number, I would highly recommend sticking to barebones that are "Verified by Intel" because many parts are interchangable: keyboard, battery, power adapter, optical drive, and even the LCD. The benefits should be obvious and there are several different sizes and configurations so you don't have to stick to just one model. You can't say that about anything else.
