I am trying to decide which to get soon. I would wait for the turion 64 x2 but i hear it wont be that much faster and will problaby cost more then i want to spend which is under 1000$. but my main question is which one is faster?? Thanks

dell wont offer the turion, therefore no coupon usage, therefore, more money spent.

go duo, the difference in the two, if any is not worth any hassle

refurb i9400/i6400 is your best bet then

dual core turions wont be out+available for at least 2 months and will perform on-par with the core duo. you'd be waiting two months for the same performance

if you need it, buy it.

if you dont, then dont buy it

either way, maybe in benchmarks each shines over the other, but they are going to be about the same.

i was just making a point about getting a dell, if you go turion, you will probably end up spending more for the same performance, and worse price!

My choice really came down to more factors then the possible speed increase of a CPU choice, which is really only a part of a system's performance. I choose the 9400 because of the GPU, Truelife screen, road ready design and because it's a Dell there is lots of community support. But If the CPU is what your heart desires go for it.

Yeah, I mean the Turion isn't that much faster than the Core Duo/Solo Nor will the Turion X2. All you gain is 64bit capability which I still have yet to see anything take advantage of in the realm of gaming. I like AMD CPUs and all, but it seems the software world has been lax at best making software for Windows XP x64.
