Norton System Works VS Trend Micro PC Cillin

I am curious if the veterans think one of these is better then the other.
I have used Norton for a couple of years but the new lappy came with pc cillin. Not sure of it's track record.

Considering that Norton is usually last or near it and pc cillin is number 1 or 2 for the two years on the ranking scale, I think you see what I'm saying.

I use AntiVir (free) now, still enjoy the rest of NSW (utilities) tried TrendMicro once.

pc-cillin has a pretty cool name and I've had nothing but awful experiences with Norton.. I had a trial of pccillin, but never bothered to use it, but it's name is nice and reassuring and I think I saw an add for it once that was pretty cool.. but seriously, the cool name is more than enough to make me say that it's better than Norton. I know this wasn't quite what you were looking for, but I've been in a Norton trashing mood for a while.. It really isn't worth it.. a defensless system is about as safe as a system with Norton, and the defensless system will have all of its reasources free.. To the Norton reps in the arena and those of you with wonderful experiences with it, I appologize for my point of view and things may have changed since I last experienced a computer "infected" with Norton...

Heres the other thing, pc-cillin reminds me of antibiotics, which are good at fixing all sorts of bodily infections. Like a good friend on standby with a twelve-gauge, ready to blast whoever's left after you succumb to an illness (or for the sake of the analogy, an ambush of bad guys). Norton reminds me of an old step uncle I had at one point (I think he may have been British or somethign.. distant relative married to my stepmother's sister or something). Norton was his last name and his daughter was an awful child. She kind of reminded me of Lt. Kerrigan after she got infected in starcraft, as she had a very demonic voice, evil hatred and pain spewed from her, and she was in complete control of those around her.. but anyway, to make a long story short, Norton antivirus brings back a number of terrible memories..

I've used both, am currently using Trend Micro, and never had a virus with either installed. Norton, though, conflicted occasionally with other programs which just wouldn't work while it was installed and was the reason I switched. Never had any problems at all with Trend Micro.

FWIW, I read an anti-virus comparison recently (sorry, can't remember which magazine) and TM was rated eighth, I think, of the ten or so programs tested.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am going to stay with the PC Cillin for a while to see how I like it.

If you want free, I highly recommend Avast. If you're buying, NOD32, BitDefender and Kaspersky are usually rated among the highest.

NOD32 or AVG.. but between PC Cillin and Norton.. Go with PC cillin and save the bloatware.. Hopefully Norton will get the message one day and and make a nice tight product again.
