M170...worth keeping now that dual-core+512M cards are taking off?

Ok.....so how much exactly is the M170 outdated compared to M1710, in terms of next-gen games i.e. Ghost Recon, Crisis, since the newer games are rumored to fully utilize 512M video cards and dual-core CPU's for high resolutions, which pretty much makes the M170 ....[insert your word here]

So is it even worth hanging onto the M170 right now or to sell them while they are still worth something?

Thanks
S

BTW:::Those who ordered the M170 several weeks ago, u can get another $60 credit plus a possible 10% off coupon if u call Dell and tell them u wanna return the M170 and they will work out this deal with u so u can keep the laptop and save some extra money, making the lappie a nice $1330 shipped...enjoy!

I have no problems with my M170. I wanted it from the first time I seen it and have been very happy so far. I don't see anything coming out that will be to much for the M170 to handle. Hold on to your M170. I bet it has treated you good this far and will continue to do so for sometime yet.

I will never part with my M170!!!

the way it is going on right now, new video cards come out every few months and its really not worth switching every few months. I bought the Gen 2 bout a year ago now and I'm still loving it. Ghost Recon does utilize all 512 of vid ram for its high quality textures but if u've seen the screenshots that compare the different levels of textures. it is hardly noticable so ask yourself before you make the jump whether it is worth the money for a 20% increase. Wait another year and you'll get a 40% jump from your current system so that's when I would say is a good time to make the jump. OR at least wait till a game is released that can't be played with your M170

Yeah. Definitely wait. The M170 will hold its own for quite a while.

M170 will be fine. You have to remember most people barely have Direct X9 class cards let alone with 24 pipes and 35-36GBs of bandwidth. Your good dude. I got my M170 in the sale

Seems the M170 can still play anything I have tested on it so far. And remember, you can always pin-mod for some extra CPU power on the cheap.
