Hi Everyone,
Been awhile since i posted, but i ran into a problem yesterday which i fixed and i thought i'd share it. First off, I'm running XP Pro on a Gen2 XPS with the 6800Go card.
Basically the issue seems to be if you have Nero 6 installed and then you install Nvida PureVideo, the Nero 6 DirectShow filters over-ride the Nvidia ones. I think this issue though could extend to other programs like Nero that install their own proprietary DirectShow filters as well.
I installed Nvidia PureVideo (Latest version, available from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html) with the intention of watching dvds through Windows Media Player (10). Basically there was no audio and no video in WMP . Here's what i did to fix it:
This worked for me, and I hope that it helps someone else out in the future who wants to use Nvidia's PureVideo decoder with their Nvidia Go6800.

- See what DirectShow Filters you have installed first. Install the Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
- Download this little program ( There's no installer and it's just one file so don't worry about bogging your system down. It's like a little registry editor ): http://www.radlight.org/products/fil...ager/index.php
- Unregister the Nero DirectShow Filters, or whatever offending program showed up in that Mircrosoft utility you installed in step 1.
- Reinstall the Nvidia PureVideo decoder
- Restart Windows
This worked for me, and I hope that it helps someone else out in the future who wants to use Nvidia's PureVideo decoder with their Nvidia Go6800.
