having a post limit will just create more spam, since the scammers will look to inflate their post count as fast as possible.

mabye a more resonable number like 50 or 75. I have been visiting this forum for a while now, and I am just barely at 60 posts. I am not a scammer, and if I want to sell something on this forum, I feel that I should not have to dick around and post non-sense till I get to 100 posts.

A better idea would be, either more mods, or have to verify yourself in order to post in the for sale section.

I'm not sure 100 posts would get rid of the scammers but it wouldn't hurt.
NBF should charge $15,00 for everyone wishing to purchase or sell here.
They could do a reference check with writen consent from everyone wishing to join.
Who knows, they could make a few dollars and run their own ebay type of Buy/sell/trade web site without them taking a cut in the sales.

Just my 2 cents

How about people just take personal responsability for their trades. Don't be stupid and go for something that seems to good to be true, don't send $$$ first to newbies, check heatware refs, get personal contact info etc. Why do we need other people to do our work. We take the chance in selling to faceless people, it is our job to do our own homework. I too do not like the 100 post thing. This forum will be spammed with people trying to get to 100 (even me!). My heat and rep are WELL established in other forums, which are also easy to check.

Bottom line is, you have to be careful and smart about it. If you are, you should be fine.

No! I wouldn't be able to come here yet :P

I've been around here for a while, and come to the forum every day lately. I just don't post a lot.

I am on other forums, and have good heat/ebay, but not at 100 at either. I think that this is too big a barrier. Traders just have to be smart.

yeah look at me a member since 2004 not a scammer and very little post count compared to others with my time here. sold 2 systems only on here with heatware, but i got good ebay feedback and dont shy from emails or calls.

I rarely have problem with buying and selling, I think it's our own responsibilities to make sure we are not being scammed.

What I mean is that a scammer might notice a 100 post requirement and take their scams to another forum instead.

Wow I was not expecting this many comments. If you look at ocforums. There FS: section is one of the cleanest I have seen plus most sellers are legit, have good good feeback/post counts and are good people.

why doesn't everyone just be a little more careful with who they decide to deal with. Heatware, ebay feedback, and reputation on other forums are good enough references to someones ability to complete a reputable transaction. BTW its just as easy for someone to make 100 bogus posts and start selling. If i wanted to i could bump 100 threads and poof i've got my cred. Buying/Selling/Trading on forums is seriously a Buyer Beware scenerio regardless of reputation. I've seen members with 1,000+ post counts and hundreds of Heat have issues. To stay safe, if the user doesn't have Rep or Heat or a high enough post count for you ask for him to ship or pay first if they don't agree then its tough luck for them.

just a few thoughts from a guy who doesn't have a great post count but has bought/sold and traded many high priced items on many different forums.
