Hi there

i reinstalled all the drivers after clean install on the system, by the way they gave me the 9400 drivers cd I only reaslised that after intaling the chipset so I downloaded all the drivers of the net, it is working fine now but only 3dmark score of 7800 where I had a score of 8422 out of the box what should I do.

The reason I reinstalled everything is because of resolution problems

The 9400 and 1710 share most of their drivers so it may actually use the same drivers CD. With that said I doubt that has anything to do with your problem. I would start with the basics. Are you plugged in? Is Dell Quickset loaded? Are you running in max performance mode vs max battery mode?

This will give you some place to start. If you are doing all of the above and you are leaving 3DMark at deaults you may try reloading the video driver. Just some ideas, I hope you get the 8400 numbers back. These are sweet systems.

I just got my XPS 1710, out of the box i got 4100ish with 3dmark 06. This sounds terrible compared to the above. Is there something I should do? After a fresh install with hardly anything installed, i installed the video drivers i got from dell and got 4160.

System specs:
1.83ghz
2gb RAM
60g 7200rpm
7900GTX

I repaired any problems and defragged before running the tests

Zyb, I had the same terrible "fill the trousers" moment when I saw how low my 3DMark score was - until I too realised I had run '06 not '05. Now I am a very happy camper

Sounds like it could be a potential worm virus, its hard to know for sure. For some more information, see these links:

Thanks for that I think it is spyware thats has mutated into a worm, that sucks Ill do a full restore again.

Thanks for that I just wanted to confirm.

About the overclocking is that easy enough, I would love to play fear at better settings
