My additional two cents. I am an architect, I have been using SAGERs for 10 years now. I have taken my machines to work every day, or not, depending on where I was working and what I was doing. Currently, I enjoy being self-employed, which is my preference, but I still haul my machines all over, to clients, to consultants, to meetings, on trips, around the house/office, to the beach, wherever. I currently only have two wired to connect or unconnect, my power and my headset. I had a pile before I installed my wireless LAN. Even then, that was the least problem in my day. Come on, you can't take the 10 seconds it takes to do the plugs if you aren't willing to do the wireless things? I mean, how feeble or lazy are you? I think its a good idea to have to check around your machine once in a while anyway.
In any case, I see no advantage to having either an external keyboard or mouse. Just more crap to haul around and/or having to adjust back and forth between the machine's input and the external. I would concede a really nice external monitor, but if you are hauling your machine around, do you take that with you as well or do you have a monitor every place you go.
The whole point of a laptop is portability, not having every dang doo-dag and gewgaw the tech folks can dream up to haul around with you.
Actually, around the house/office, I don't unplug the machine, I just wear the headset plugged in and disconnect the AC adaptor from its AC cord as I have spares located all through the place.
Personally, I'd just as soon wear a computer 24/7 and have it tap my spare fat for power. Just think of the potential!!!
