I predict a giant wave of viruses!

Wait for OSX 10.5. I predict that Apple and Intel will offer a chipset with Apple's customization of EFI and Michael Dell will announce a partnership with Apple at Macworld.

and my prediction will come true!!

What would that mean for games?
Lets say 40% of people buy an OSX system... how will game developers handle that?

well - i guess game developers will always prefer windows, as it has better support.
however, don't forget that microsoft owns a lot of shares from apple. so it would be a win win situation for microsoft for people to go dual boot. the best of two worlds and sh**... one for gaming and compatibilty - one for style and stability..
wouldn't you love to join bills, steves and micheals little meetings would be sooo interesting to peep in there..

The more people using OSX, the better. Our hope is that everbody else follows Blizzard's lead and ships the Mac, Linux, and PC binaries on the same disk. It's much more cost effective in the long run for the orginial developers and publishers than porting houses. Creating a Mac binary isn't that hard in the scheme of things. It'd also free up Destineer and Aspyr to work on more original games.

From Apple's side, better OpenAL support and a better graphics implenmentation based on OpenGL 2.0 would be a start. A Game controller preference pane wouldn't hurt either.

No offense, but I hope not. If there's support, it should be for computers using Apple's version of EFI only, No BIOS.

Dell and OSX

Sheesh... I hope not...

I don't understand the animosity for Macs sold by Dell. If Apple were to license OSX to Dell, it would only increase overall marketshare of the Mac OS. They already share the same ODM manufacturers (Compal, Quanta) for their laptops.

I doubt it. if dell sold OS X on their computers, why would I pay for an apple when I can get a dell for cheaper. This means apple would lose out on people purchasing thier hardware, over others.

HP sold iPods.

I could see Apple and Dell getting into a deal like the HP iPod deal: Apple and Dell come up with a logo incorporating the Apple and Dell logos; Apple makes the computers with the new logos and sells them to Dell; Dell sells the computers to the consumer for the same prices that Apple sells them at; everybody is mostly happy—Apple gets wider distribution and Dell gets to sell computers with OS X.

Truthfully there's nothing to stop Dell from becoming an Apple reseller now if they really wanted to.

Not unless Dell's machines start looking like Apples and more upwards in price because of it. Apple is a premium computer maker for those with more upscale tastes. Dell and HP are for those who want something cheap and practical. There is more than enough room for everyone to exist. Not everyone wants the same computer.
