--------------------------84.37--------------------------

This driver set is version 84.37-v2.40. Yes, you read that right... 2.40... These use some new tweaks I've been able to test on a friends brand spankin' new XPS M1710, as I've been without my beloved 9300 for a while. I've noticed ZERO problems with these, and the updates seem to be doing quite well, and I'm very pleased. This set (84.37) is 1 of 2 sets I'm releasing simultaniously to debut the new v2.40 TweakSet, and they are both excellent candidates. I've eliminated the Stock set for now, as it hasn't seemed to be used much (if at all). Both of these drivers (84.37 and 84.56) seem to be very nice drivers indeed, and I'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs. As always, have fun, and report your findings!!!

--------------------------84.56--------------------------

This driver is version 84.56-v2.40. As the second set to be using the new v2.40 TweakSet, this driver also seems to be a quite solid one as well. As with 84.37, I've eliminated the Stock set as it seems to be almost a third-leg, LOL. I hope that one of these drivers will suit your needs, and from the testing that I've done, I'm sure either of them will. Have fun, and don't hesitate to leave some feedback!!!

Sweet, thanks man. Any difference in choosing the 56 over the 37? What be the differences?

Well, IMO, it's personal preference. 84.56 DID give me a bit smoother gameplay in EQ2, if thats any concequence to anyone, but other than that, I really think it depends on one's personal tastes, as other than the EQ2 thing, I didn't notice too much of a difference...

Thanks! Hey can someone tell me what is safe to clean in driver cleaner pro. For example is it safe to clean everything that says nvida like 'nvidia chipset'?
Awesome! I'll have to d/l these later tonight and take them for a spin

Thanks Tony!

Nice.

84.37 didn't show a difference in 3dmark06 on my M1710ith 7900gs... trying to use the 84.56 now!

UPDATE:

Tried both sets of drivers and the 3dmark06 is almost exactly the same as stock... I htink Dell has these cards locked down at an artificially low clock/memory speed, so they're seriously bottlenecked at the GPU and nothing short of a BIOS hack will improve the benchmarks...

I will be replacing this with a 7900GTX as soon as it ships, so I won't be expliring any other options...

3Dmark05 raised from 5219 to 5271 on my 6800 ultra using the
56's...good to see ya back tony

I have noticed with the nvida drivers i have tried....the image quality by default is set to 'quality' instead of 'high'. Which do you guys run?

Thx.

Can someone please tell me how to install those drivers? I am currently using 84.12-v2.30 GS. I ve downloaded the .56 version and ran it. It automatically extracted some files to my temp folder and then nothing happened. Someone please help! Thanks in advance BTW!

go to the folder where it extracted the files and run setup.exe. hope that helps.

Getting same scores on 84.56 as 84.25 drivers - 3984 x 3989 @ 1280*800
post #19 of 46
Awesome, not sure if it's just me, but I have been getting some really bad stuttering in Tomb Raider: Legends with the 84.25s, hopefully these will help. Downloading now

I haven't upgraded drivers for a while, and thought I'd see what all the fuss was about with Tony's drivers.

Laptop is a 9300 (2.13 CPU, 2Gb RAM) with a 6800ultra (overclocked to 500/1200)

Preupdate - (I think I was using laptopvideo2go's 81.30 drivers? not sure)
3dmark 05 - 5431
3dmark06 - 2476

So I grab the 84.56's. Result?
05 - 5624
06 - 2658

Sweet. Then I noticed the nvidia tray icon (which I normally delete straight away after doing an install), and having a fiddle, noticed that the Performance settings were set to High Quality.

hmm....wonder how much of a difference High Performance makes? Before I list results, I must say there was certainly no noticeable difference in visible quality.

Results?
05 - 5755
06 - 2772

OK Tony - you've convinced me. reps to you - and DON'T get grounded again - we value your work too much here
