Does your DELL E1705 continuously make noise?

Mine is, even the fans are off. And it generates a lot of heat. When I called Dell, the rep told me this is normal for a high end product. Really?
But compared to my old Compaq notebook which is so quiet, this one almost makes me kill myself.

Any suggestion is welcome, or should I return it and buy a E1505, which is a lower end?

BTW, my E1705 has Go 7800. Does this one cause the trouble?

Thanks

Mine is usually very quiet. The fans don't run very often, unless Im in a game or using maya for an extended period of time. Hope this helps

thanks,

I can tell that the sound is from the vent at the right top of keyboard, and I can also tell the different between the fan is off and on since the latter is normal noise from the fan and I wounld not complain about it.

Since yours is very quiet, I guess mine has some problem, can it be solved?

thanks again,

I'm not sure, There are 2 fans on that unit, one on the upper left and on on the upper right. Are you sure the sound is not coming from one of the fans? The only other moving parts in the laptop are the HDD (Harddrive) and the DVD drive. Check out this forum thread it has some more information concerning a E1705 with a buzzing sound.

No I have a I9400 and its fairly quiet, Unless I'm pushing the video and then it only comes on high for a couple of minutes. Temps are alway below 75C.

Hey Chevy, No, I would say 20% of the time my fans as off, 60% my fan are on low, low enough I have to listen with my ear to the keyboard. The other 20% my fan are on medium to high depending if I'm in just surfing or in Maya or playing CS:S or BF2. Hope this helps.
