Looked promising, but.....

Well, siting AppleInsider, http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1729, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing the MacBook. It may not even be in the next week. Kind of disappointing.

One thing confuses me. Siting http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1721, AI mentions that the MacBook will "sport Core Duo processors from Intel Corp and pack novelties such as a completely magnetic latching system, built in iSight video camera, and MagSafe power adapter. Additionally, each MacBook is expected to come bundled with Apple's Front Row and PhotoBooth software applications." What I don't get is how is this different than the MacBook Pro? It sound like a MacBook Pro, just in a smaller package. I figured the MacBooks would have less features than the Pro......I suppose there is still a question of what GPU the new MacBook will have. If it is even close to what the Pro contains (ATI X1600), I'm gonna wonder what makes the Pro "pro" in current line.

Exactly. That doesn't make any sense.

Maybe they will shortchange the graphics card in the smaller books. Also, who knows what peripheral ports will be available too. But you are right. What would be the difference according to that post. And really, I hope there is not difference. I would like a 13" MBP

Me, too....I just already bought a 15" MBP 1.5 weeks ago. What's the Apple return policy?
To sincitymedic......

The return policy is 14 days, minus a 10% restocking fee.
No return on "custom configured" orders.

So I am still within the 14d thing. But since I elected for the 7200rpm HDD, I'm f'ed? It figures.....I suppose the resale value is still pretty good......maybe.....

apple bombed yet again
yep, went today to the apple store hoping to see the new macbook's but to no avail. I knew they weren't there prior to leaving to the apple store since it wasn't up on their website, but still, i'm saddened. Anyway, it seems that they will be released next week, due to a shortage in supply, but I won't be around an apple store then, so again, i'm saddened. Oh well.

But I did get to see the MBP's and they are sweet. I thought the magsafe connector was a bit bigger than what it is, but it is pretty awesome. The 15" were a bit warm, while the 17" were quite cool. Still, I'm holding out on a new notebook until I really need one.

hey, did you get a chance to listen to the 17" for the whining sound? Also, does the firmware update fix suppose to fix the whining sound? Just wondering before I head out to my Apple store and get one
post #13 of 13
Boy, you aren't kidding about the warmth. I am still contemplating doing the fix.....I wish Apple would just man-up & admit the problem so that it can be fixed within warranty spec.
