Ok after searching for a while I believe I have come accros the best drivers for the X1400. Better then the omega drivers I was using before. Now I dont know how well they will work on a E1505 but they work awesome on my E1705. It improved my 3dmarl by 275. Before I couldnt get City of Heroes to run on high setting, after drivers I can run everything on high without Anti. So enough talk here are the drivers. Hope this will hold all of us who got the X1400 who didnt have a choice until we can order the 7900 Gs.

It called DHzerOpoint. Another great thing I liked about these drivers they actually state the actual card. It see's it as a ATI x1400 with 128 megs and 128 megs of hypermemmory. My next task is to find out how to OC this bad boy. heh There you go amigos.

I have the e1705 with the x1400 as well and I pulled my hair with frustration when I couldn't get it to run Call of Duty 2 nicely. My work laptop with x600 kicked my e1705's rear...

I downloaded the drivers you suggested and it runs better now. I do 1400x1050 resolution with directx 7 emulation and no anti-aliasing. I recommend the drivers?

I haven't tried other games yet, but I bet they will run pretty well.

So are they really better than omega drivers?

Is this the best driver solution until I upgrade to a better GPU?

How much is your 3dmark05 score now?
Mine is 1871 with omega drivers and no overclocking.
It would be nice if it went to 2k with these drivers. I'll give it a try...

They sure are. They broke the 2k barrier on mine. Give them a shoot and post your opinion. Dont forget to run Drivercleaner in safe mode.

Without OC, I cant seem to find a way of OC the X1400. Everytime I try to OC it stops the computer. I think it has to do with the X1400 sharing the memmory. I will post once I find a way of OC it.

Tried the driver and scored a 1901 with 3dmark05....cant seem to break that 2k barrier but i didnt run drivercleaner either....wonder if that would make the difference???

Did you disable your AntiVirus software to do the test? Defrag your HD?

You can overclock your x1400. Use Powerstrip to do it. Many e1505 have successfully overclocked their x1400. Keep us updated.

Can it be done with any version of powerstrip?

I'll give em a try, but remind me...

1. Download new drivers and have ready for installation
2. Remove all ATI related programs using Add/Remove programs
2. Shutdown and restart in safe mode (F8??)
3. Run Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode
4. Install new driver while in safe mode (??)
5. Re-boot normal

Please correct anything above that is wrong...thanks.

I think v3.63 is the stable version. v3.64 has problems when overclocking the memory.

So you...

reboot in safe mode and use driver cleaner....then reboot normal and install new drivers or do you also install the new drivers while in safe mode after using driver cleaner? After you use driver cleaner, is it better to shut down and again boot in safe mode and install new drivers or can you do it right after you run driver cleaner in safe mode? Once new drivers are installed, I assume you reboot normal? Thanks.

marinje....ya i defraged and shutdown any background programs (including antivirus software)....only thing is didnt use drivercleaner. this was only the second driver ive used on this computer so just uninstalled the previous driver.

also...any advice on using powerstrip to overclock??? ive never overclocked anything before but im sure can find directions. just looking for specs on how far people have pushed the x1400. thanks!!!

After you run driver cleaner in safe mode, Reboot in normal mode and when it ask it found new hardware press cancel, run the drivers and you should be good to go.

took a look at the 15" forum and found that you can OC the x1400 with Powerstrip 3.63 Build 540 (v. 3.64 does not work). seems like they got up to 575/440 and hit a wall. if anyone has tried this please post!!! i will most likely be playing with it tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

also...has anyone besides martinje broke 2k with 3dmark05 and a x1400 not OCed?????
