5660 Win98 Driver Questions

Rec'd my 5660 on Thursday and I love it. Many of the things I was worried about (keyboard, Linux, etc.) have been wonderful. My biggest problem? Loading win98! [See my post in the Linux forum in a few moments.]

I followed the directions in the manual and did my best to load things in the order suggested. While that didn't quite work, I got nearly everything working. However, I still have two devices for which I can't find drivers, one of which I can't even identify.

So, we'll start with the one I can identify. The "PCI Management" Device (or something like that...sorry, I'm in RH right now). I looked everywhere I could for the proper drivers, reloaded the Chipset, etc. Nothing. Anyone know where this is?

[Meanwhile, I figured I'd ask this question here rather than go straight to PCTORQUE, as someone else may have had a similar question.]

Meanwhile - if you, like I did, are combing these forums wondering whether or not all this Sager stuff can be true...for me, at least, it is. This machine is awesome.

Is it 98 SE or regular 98?

Sorry - forgot to distinguish.

98SE. 98 doesn't fair as well with machines > 2.1GHz (the NDIS error, for those of you who know it). HOWEVER, believe it or not, I have tried it with both 98 and 98SE - the former when the first failed - and had the same problem(s) both times.

Thanks!

Following up on my own message.

1) The mysterious devices were cleaned up after re-installing the Chip Set drivers again. Although the instructions make it clear that you must do this first, doing it first and last seemed to do the trick

2) I got the Fn-keys working by installing the Multi-Media keyboard drivers. This also got the volume keys on front-side cd controls to work, too. Bonus. I hadn't loaded these as I would never use the "hot keys".

Our friends at Sager Support suggested the solution for #2.

Enjoy.
