messed up lcd

Get this, my dell inspiron 9300 is being sent for repairs because it has a hair inside the LCD. Its actually in between the pixels and the outer layer. So it is impossible to take out. Its even messed up several pixels in the monitor. Dell said they would have to replace the entire lcd. Does anyone know how a hair could have gotten inside the monitor when it is supposed to be sealed?

How long does it usually take dell to fix something and send it back to you?

It must have been a manufacturing glitch.

Not sure why you had to send it back. When I needed my screen replaced, they sent a tech out, and he swapped it there and then on the spot - took a day from when I reported it, to when the tech arrived and changed out the screen.

I don't have any extra special warranty or anything - just the basic one year one.

it is kindof funny. I actually asked if they could send me the LCD and i fix it myself but they said its way too fragile to let you do it. I think thats kindof funny because im in the army and part of my job is repairing computers and some other electronic equiptment.

the hair is in the circle, the dark spots around it are the pixels that have been messed up. It shows that the hair has been moving around. the picture sucks but its the best my camera will take. Oh here is allso a picture of my daughter asleep, i thought it was kindof cute.

I understand why they would do it though, had to take care of business when mine arrived.

Very cute!

I'm suprised that they said that about the screen, too, because MANY people here have had a screen sent right to them for replacement themselves, with the understanding, of course, that you will send the old one back or be billed for it.

Wow... my LCD has a hair too. I thought it was just a normal wear and hear smudge, but after looking at your pictures, and examining the smudge closely, it's definitely a hair.

The disturbing part is that it's definitely MY hair. I have coloured my hair (purple) and it's mostly faded to a silver with purple highlights, and the hair in there is the same colour.
