Ebay thinkpadworld dealer ?

I'm just checking an opportunities of acquiring something like T43 (or probably T41p) off Ebay, noticed quite attractive offerings by a seller named thinkpadworld. Ddid anybody hear deal with him ? Any related experiences ?

Another issue: would you prefer T41p over T43 ?

Thanks, Alex

I think they are reliable like most big sellers on eBay. There is always some risk buying at distance, but the same happens with life in general.

I've got both laptops and are roughly identical. The T43 is sightly faster and the T41p gives sightly more battery life. The T43 also has both PCMCIA and Express Card.

I think that I am going to keep the T41p and sell or trade the T43. Tell me if you are interested: 1.86 GHz processor, X300 video card, XGA screen, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, Combo.

Well, I ended up buying brand new T43 on Ebay that turned to be even cheaper then refubrished machined from thinkpadworld (or few other big refubrished sellers over there).
The situation on Ebay just welcomes the buyer to go for a brand new T43 many of these in their regular configurations can be had easily within 900-1100 US$ range. I would probably consider Thinkpadworld would be seriously consider highly-specified machine (p series). In this case his offerings are worthy to consider (if you don't mind refubrished) because brand new T43p are still quite expensive even on Ebay.

Alexz,

After researching other forums and searching google for them, I decided that eBay Seller: ThinkPadworld is definitely legit. And my research has comforted me to take the plunge, (which i plan to do in the morning) and buy a fully loaded T43p. Check out this :

"Looking Ahead
My old IBM ThinkPad bit the dust recently, so I headed to ThinkPadWorld at EBay to pick up a factory-refurbished unit at a cut-rate price. I highly recommend this approach if you're a ThinkPad fan like me but can't afford a brand-spankin'-new model."

This was taken from a PCWorld article. See it here.

And there are many people on THINKPADS.Com that likes them. The only person I see bashing them is Bill Morro of Thinkpads.com and i can suppose that is because Thinkpadworld puts up a serious fight when it comes to competition. I will order in the morning and keep the forum posted with the results of the transaction.

Perhaps I expressed myself in a wrong way, but I wasn't bushing Thinkpadworld in any way, neither tried to diminish his competence as a seller. I just decided fro myself that going with brand new, 3-years IBM warranted unit for the price at least be compatitive to refubrished of Thinkpadworld or even somewhat cheaper would be wise, especially bearing in mind that I'm not in US and the unit will be used in my country where IBM service doesn't like to deal with refubrished machines...(while providing excellent service for a new bought, registered thinkpads).

The case you've just described perfectly fits into what I've said: if one wants a highly specified machine (such as T43p for instance)- those are still highly priced een on Ebay, so here THinkpadworld certainly comes into the play...
