640m Keyboard - Full size?

I like the 700m series, but the keyboard was too small. I've read that they are almost 92% normal size... although it feels smaller.

Anyone know if the 640m will have full size keyboard.

I am also looking at the m1210... but only if the battery life is good.

It doesn't: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=04&l=en&s=bsd

A 14" notebook is too small to have a full sized keyboard, although it would be nice if Dell put full sized keyboards on their 17" models.

I tried looking for keyboard specs for both the 710m and 640m. I am guessing though that the 640m has a larger keyboard than the 710... right? I've used the 9300 keyboard and that was just right for me.

Yeah, it does

I'm pretty sure that the 640m has the same size keyboard as the 9300

cool beans.

Now I have to hunt down a coupon.

I read a thread and now I wish I was reading it a few days ago...

"DELL HOME Notebook e1405 Core Duo 1.66GHz 14.1" 1GB RAM 40GB DVD Burner $602.06 or less AC,Free S/H" -

now a dead deal....

darn. I am guessing the e1405 and 640m are the same (is the customer service better for small business?)

I think their service is.

Just for future reference for those that do not know. The keypitch for the 700m is supposedly 17.9mm; I do not know what the keypitch is for the i9300 though or the 640m.

i looked at the price difference for the e1405 and 640m... since the $600 deal is gone.

small business is about $30 more but I can add bluetooth and I figured the Customer Service is better.

I bought through their "Home" side once... still have nightmares about my phone calls being transferred overseas and being bounced back and forth for hours.

Thanks for that quote, dan - makes it easier for me to plop down the cash the 640m

well it looks like the keyboard for the e1705 e1505 and the e1405 all use the same one?

Am I the only one that thinks they wasted a huge amount of space on the e1705? There's a good couple of inches either side of the keyboard, enough to either make the keys bigger or to fit in a numpad.

I think they could have used the space a little more wisely. But I am glad that they centered the keyboard correctly. I forgot which laptop I used but once before I was typing off center ( the "G" and "H" keys were almost 1/3 of the way from the left edge of the laptop) I like those keys near the middle of the laptop.

Xarthan, It looks like the 9300 and the 6000 use the same keyboard (same part number)

I am not sure about the e1405/640m yet, I have to look up more info.

I like the 9300 keyboard. it worked fine for me - 700m, i kept mistyping and my wrists started to hurt.

Dell is always too cheap to include numpad. I guess they think that most ppl would not be interested in them.
