How do you do it? It looks like my laptop is about to snap in half if I use enough force to rip the shield off its hinges.

Lift from the fromnt of the cover, the side with the locking latch. The hinge side comes off last.

It's supposed to be hard to come off, right? And I lift pretty much directly an inch (left or right) of the latch?

Not hard at all.

Tell me, do you happen to have a digital camera to take a photo? Two weeks ago a guy said he was trying to take off his shield and it turns out he was just taking off the back lid cover.

Ah, nevermind. I got it. Thanks for the help.

It just took a couple times of lifting it up. It popped up out of the hinges on the sides but the middle was stuck until I loosened it a little. That's why it was hard for me to take off.
