4780 Wi-Fi and CDrw/DVD Problems

Hm, okay I just noticed it but I'm pretty sure this has been occuring since I got the laptop 1-2 months ago...

First problem: The little light on the CD Drive tray doesn't turn on. Ever. Not when accessing a CD or DVD, and not when burning a CD. I suppose I never noticed it just because I'm usually not looking at the left side of the lappie while using it.

Second problem: The burner burns really, really slow... I have tried several brands of CD-R media at different rated speeds from 24x all the way up to 52x. No matter what I am burning on any media, at the maximum speed (52x I think) it always takes about 30-45minutes to burn a CD. On my home computer with the same rated drive, it takes about 4 minutes to burn a similar CD. At full-speed burning, there is always an write-error (I can't remember what it is) but setting the speed to one level less (48x I think) it burns just fine (despite it taking forever to do so). This is while using the version of Nero that came with the computer.

Third problem: Wi-Fi net access is sllooowwwww...I've been using network access through several types of access points and routers, including Linksys, Netgear, Microsoft, etc. No speed difference among any of them. My iPaq palmtop gets speeds 20x faster on the same routers! I'll run some tests later to find the exact speed, but it's definitely slower than it should be. Oh, and the link quality is generally 'excellent' or 'very good' while I am getting the slow speeds.

I'm running the latest BIOS and hardware drivers from Sager's site and Windows XP is up-to-date. Any ideas?

Can you even get a 4780 with a 52x or 48x burner? Mine's 24x.
