Damn! You beat me to this post by 1 minute

Yeah they have 17" and 19" SLI plus 7900 vid cards

Holy crap, AMD processors in a laptop, this thing is going to do circles around mi M5500. I wanna trap in my M5500 now, wish they have a 15.4 inch.
wOw that is amazing...
Yeah amazing for 5 grand! Not worth the money. You get dual cards is sli mode and a 19 inch screen, and the processor is a mobil edition to save power. If you have money to burn it is a ok rig, but I rather the Aurora!
19 inch screen?

Officially no longer a laptop.

Wow!! now that they have 7900gtx cards, will they come in aurora 7700 also?
Thanks for the link Dock. Those are some sweet machines coming out. I agree with Laughterkillsme, 19in is just too big for me, 17in is borderline....Still awesome none-the-less.

updated me sticky...

Hmmm i like this Painting on the other Side..Ive got the 7700 and would like to change this if its going right...I mean this grip...
wow, that mALX is actually in my budget - however I do have to give up my second hdd and optical drive...

do y'all really think this new machine is worth it or should I just stick with the aurora 7700???

i wish AW had an upgrade policy :P stinkers. i'm gonna wait to see how the reviews/benchmarks look, and maybe i'll look into one in a few months
post #13 of 72
just got of the phone with alienware, they wont be building for 4-5 months and then another 2 months or so testing etc, so basically by Christmas (maybe) so still a bit of a ways to go, if that sucker reviews and benches good, and is a vast gaming improvment over my Aurora M7700 which is awesome with a 4771 3dmark06 its gonna be hard to nudge this out of my hands :P

wwoooowwww!!!!!
too bad the mALX runs on a Turion...
Im surprised the m9700 doesnt cost an unreasonable amount more than the m7700...
Tried doing a configuration on the m9700. A maxed out m9700 is between $4,200 and $4,600 depending on the other extras you'll buy. That's cheaper than a maxed aurora m7700. I guess its coz of the processor. The FX-60 cost way much more. Great deal with m9700. I'm still checking on the ALX.
Wow thats sooo sweeet dual 7900GTX ... yeah baby ... I also love the 17' model .... looks so nice .... Mayby my next lappy will be Alienware
peace out
A maxed out mALX is between $5K to 5.4K, again, it depends on the extras you get. But you already get lots of extra stuff with that price. But hey, its 19 inches and 15 pounds of pure power. hehehe. The case is great. It's an owning case! Color Shifting!

And oh yea, the aurora m9700 weighs less than the m7700. If I remember it right.. its at 8 pounds.. whooo.. I suggest buying both! hehehe

EDIT: OH yea, both m9700(1.85") and mALX(1.4"!!) are also thinner than m7700's(2.1")!!

All I can say is Wow

Awesome laptops! Way to go AW. You guys really needed to launch something big this time and you surely came through in the clutch!

I demand at least ONE person orders that new ALX lapper so we can have a review of it up ASAP! Maybe DB? Maybe Hammer? Maybe...oh god...Commish?

Who's it gonna be?!
I've known about the m9700 for a little while now, but the guy that slipped and mentioned it swore me to secrecy. It's been difficult keeping this under my hat...

I'll be ordering one soon to replace my old 5500 (766). AMD is supposed to be introducing their Turion X2 dual core processors soon, so I'm hoping AW puts those in the 9700. I'm also curious to know if they'll be offering a 7900gtx in this model when they're available.

I was thinking about an Aurora 7700, but like juggylicious says, the 9700 is less expensive, and has a mobile processor.

I configured one, and it says estimated delivery is June 19, so these will be available soon. The 19" will take longer though...

I wonder if I can use my Dell financing account to buy a Alienware?
