My guess is the 19" LCD is new for the laptop world. So, they haven't started making a 1920x1200 yet. You'll also notice the Alienware doesn't actually give the resolution of the 19" screen on their web site. It's embarasing I guess. You can find the same laptop on http://www.pctorque.com and they'll give you the resolution. I using memory here and thought it was 1680x1040. Anyway much lower than the 17".

I have money fore either the aurora or the sli notebook for 2k. I was going to have the x24400 and the 7900 gfx card. With the sli notebook id get AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile ML44 2.4GHz and the sli. SO which labtop should i pick?

Clocks in at $3700, cheaper than the Dell XPS loaded like I wanted.

Ya know, initially I was all about the 19" - but I think it was the custom paint. But after hearing that the screen only has like a 1680 resolution - I was really turned off... After re-looking at the 9700, I really like everything about it - except that I noticed that the optical drive tray opens to the front...

Arggh, if it wasn't for that, the 9700 would be prefect...

why go with the m9700 when you can go with the aurora malx? I know the price difference but i think it is way worth it. The the 7900 gs is like the exact same as like the 7800 gtx. So why not pay more to get sli 7900 gtx because if your getting thfis notebook then you are probaly already gonna drop around 3 or 3.5 k.
no doubt the dual 7900 GTX's would be awesome - I really would like a chance to check out the screen first... Plus 19" is a bit big...

decisions, decisions...

The M9700 is much more appealing to me as well because of the smaller size and greater screen resolution. Since I don't need another laptop right away, I may hold out for a version with a Turion X2 processor and dual 7900 GTX cards.

If we could find out a definite date when they will be releasing a 9700 with the GTX's, then I will probably wait - but that may actually be a long, long time - maybe even as much as a year...

Unless some new info comes up on the forums, I am planning on ordering a 9700 on the first of June...

most likely correct willy...if they offered GTX cards in the 9700 they would be cutting into the mALX sales. The value added of going mALX is the GTX cards. And dual 7900GS's are no slouches...I mean come on, these are laptops!

If the Turion was dual core that price would be hot.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS and the M9700

Can you use a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card with the new M9700? if not what are the options available with Express Card Slot /54mm as opposed to pcmcia?

NVIDIA nor ATI have not made any 512MB mobile video cards, until then nobody can build a mobile system with that much video memory.

Express Card is the replacement for PCMCIA it makes for smaller and faster cards. Creative has a USB version for the Sound Blaster Audigy, called the Audigy Sound Blaster NX.

Thx for the reply Moidock.

I think I might go for the mALX. Is the MotherBoard Manufactured by Nvidia?
And if it is do you think it would be more (rock solid) quality and perfomance wise compared with the MotherBoard on the Aurora M7700?

and what about that backpack, is it the same exact one they use for the m7700 or is it a new size just for the mALX? I've been looking online for a good computer case with wheels and can only find one so far and I am not sure if even it would be big enough.

17'' is the only way to go

Hey, I got a quote from an online chat with a sales rep. that expected battery life is 60-90 mins on the m9700. I know they like to exaggerate though, does anyone have any idea what that's going to turn out to be in real life, just using Word or Firefox...
