Anyone who state that it is not working. I can confirm 100% that it does work. You must have Net framework 1.1 installed, must have quickset installed. and must follow the text file in the download.

ya after reading some more posts from places i figured out that you needed that stuff. ill install it tomorrow when i get my XPS

Thank you for this awesome program. I really wish it didn't require QuickSet and got that error for a while, then I reinstalled it begrudgingly and it works fine now... only one question. My Gmail account isn't working with the email part and that's what I'd like to use it for, lol... I think Gmail requires authentication, is this a part of the program? Any advice for things to try? Thanks!

You asked for posts to count downloads so here's mine. I saw the video (BTW there is a space that doesn't belong due to an ad if you paste in the one posted above, there is no space before M170)

Thanks a bunch for working on this; I agree with the other guys who have stated that it would be nice if it where quickset independant because I usually don't use it. I will install it to use this though, I'm excited and I don't even have the box with lights yet.

Does the recent release of the SDK from Dell for the lights open up any new avenues of development for you? Can you write an app in .Net that circumvents the need for Quickset but with the same look to the interface? It would be cool to only need the 2.0 framework...

No even the SDK requires Quickset to be installed to work.

what is quickset? do i keep overlooking it in this thread or has it not been posted?

"Failed to connect."
Server: pop.gmail.com,
(username),
(password),
Check delay: 1800

Yes, I know the user and account names are right; yes, I am using "@gmail.com".

Quickset is the Dell utility that came with the computer for controlling power management and lights.

Try testing it will your std ISP email account and see if that works. I dont use gmail so dont know if thats the problem. Does gmail download your emails to outlook or is it purely web based?

Alright, I'll try looking up the info for my ISP's email haha. Yeah it supports IMTP and POP3 and those options are enabled, so yeah... it says it requires authentication but that's about it. Hm.

No the lights are part of that visualisation code.

Cant change that because when WMP the visualisation would not be seen and it doesnt run the code hence my LED code does not get run.

Strange... yeah, my comcast mail account works, but Gmail doesn't. I don't know why. How annoying. I guess I'll try getting my gmail from another POP program and see if it works there...

Here are Google's instructions for the matter:

See anything that might be a problem?

You can change it from red in the BIOS if you wish to avoid the swapping back and forth

Awesome application mate, I really love it.
But I got a problem with it since I reformatted my computer.
When I doubleclick the file called:
Run this first to register the xpsutils.dll and XPSLights Media Player Plugin.cmd
i first get an error with the following text:
DllRegisterServer in xpsutils.dll failed. Return code was: 0x8007007e
When I click 'OK', I get another prompt with the following text:
DllRegisterServer in XPSLights.dll succeeded.
And when I then try to run the application I get the following error:
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

So basically, I can't get the app to work anymore. I got the Dell quickset installed.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong ?

Thanks

Does the program support TLS or does it use plain text?
